I love timelines. The one for my series is massive and stretches across like 20 years.

That is massive!

I need to figure out how long Malinda had Justin. Also how long the war has been going on and how long BOIS have been in production. And that's before I go through the actual novel timeline with Taylor and Austin in real time.

Well the series starts when the characters are 13/14, ends 11-12 books later when they are 23/24. So that's 10 years of the timeline just there, and then for my own personal satisfaction because i one day hope to do a "spin off series" on there kids, i went years past the first series ended to include marriages, house buying, pregnancies kids births and such.

Have everything all planed out completely, even the books in the series i haven't written yet and the million and one important, funny, stupid and boring events in between! Even wrote the really funny pregnancy discovery of two of the characters after the series is finished. I hope I can add the story somewhere in the Second Generation because its really really funny!

And it looks like you have a pretty massive time line to figure out yourself! Or at least a pretty big backstory. Personally i love figuring out back story, although i hate not sharing it in the books... like the funny or tragic but completely irrelevant parts.

I am having a very hard time right now.

I sat down to edit and then suddenly realized I hate my MC. She's naive and spunky. She's the opposite of me. How did this happen? Should I just scrap the whole thing and start over? Is it possible to go back through 60,000 words and completely change everything about her?

Just because she is the opposite of you, you dont have to scrap her. If you utterly hate her... well i dont know, i guess that's up to you to decide if the book will still live up to your expectations, if she stays the same.

I have the funniest scene all planned out for a later book where Laura is injured and needs stitches on her side, like right under her bra, and Pip (a doctor, and her boyfriend) freaks out and keeps saying he cant do it because he'll have to see her in her bra. heheheheehe.

Umm... if he is a doctor a bit of nudity is sort of par for the course. ?

Oh no he's fine if it would be one of the other girls, (it would still be uncomfortable because they are all BFFs but he would have no problem) Its because it would be Laura who he is in love with and refuses to do anything more but kiss, because he's a very very very religious and thinks any thoughts he might think that are unpure will send him to hell.

There are a bunch of funny scenes with him and Laura when they start dating.

Allison, if she's truly not working, you can try changing her, and then if it doesn't work, you can rewrite.

But I agree with amlptj that the MC not being like you shouldn't necessarily be a problem. But you got through the book with her. Could it be that you're just experiencing that fatigue we sometimes get after spending too long with our characters (or friends/lovers/family)?

It sucks when you hate your MC, but what's her character arc? Maybe the naive and spunky has to be there for her to learn something later? Maybe you don't have to scrap or change everything.

That's great Sage!

I just got the best news! I got an exception this year from my family's stupid Easter Tradition! Which is going down Atlantic City NJ and staying in one of the casinos because my grandmom likes to gamble, and doesn't feel like cooking a dinner or anything. I've hated having to do it since i was 9. This year we are only staying down there one night! Funny i complain about having to go down there every single year, and suddenly this year because they think I'm going though such a touch time they canceled. I think i might just heir some guy to break up with me before every holiday so i can get out of this every year!!!

Bookmarks are great though! It really annoys me when people bend back the corner of a page to mark their place (stop disrespecting the book!!).

I have one from L A Weatherly's 'Angel' book (got it at an event she was at last year). With all the books I'm dipping into, I can never have enough bookmarks. :D

I hate when people do that to books too! hehehehe

I used to when i was younger, but i'm the kind of special that would forget to unfold the paper when i started reading again, so later on I'd start at the same spot again.

Hi y'all! Man, I've been so busy, I haven't been able to keep up with all the wonderful things y'all are accomplishing. I also haven't written a thing! I'm getting too familiar with my WIP, and I'm starting to resent and dislike it. I have to keep reminding myself that I have the story to tell and I want to get it out in the world. Also, I used to be excited about it. But... all that is easier said than done. Happy Thursday!

I'm in the same state right now! Your not alone. Think its the stuff going on in my life that has kind of stopped my writing dead in its tracks... but i've also lost some motivation... So today i'm starting a SNI i came up with suddenly last night. Its going to be a mini novel, maybe short story, but at least i'm writing something.

Actually already started writing and picked Roby and Jake, but not sure if i'm going to keep those names....

But I reached 4K in it in only a few hours!

I was going to choose Noah too, but possibly because that's what I just renamed a secondary character to ;)

He's still really a Craig, but Noah was the first thing I could see him as while I went through the alphabet trying out names for him.

Actually the best alternate name for him was Travis, but my MC is Taylor, and I just can't do that to my readers (and self)
