Al, I believe you have to be a librarian to add a book. I'm one. If your book is already listed at GR, find it and click on "edit details" (in small letters just below the book description and info.).

I still have a bit of trouble navigating the site, but am also running a giveaway in March. I'm waiting for approval.

How do I add a book that isn't already listed?

Type in the book name. When the title is not found, look to the right. It will say, "Add a book." Again, librarians are the only ones who can add books. I'd be happy to add one for you.

Thanks, Merri. Apparently I'm a librarian too. It worked for me.

My giveaways are underway. Over a hundred readers already signed up between the two books. They're running neck and neck. I wonder how many are the same readers? Maybe I'll save on postage. :)

You can see everyone who has signed up, if you actually want to see how many folks signed up for both. We're running our giveaways at the same time. I think I have around 90 readers signed up. It's fun to watch the numbers increase.

I'm also a GoodReads librarian so if anyone would like me to help add or edit information, ship me a PM. Although, even before becoming a librarian, I think I was able to add my book when it came out with a small publisher in 2011. Perhaps the policy has changed, or I'm misremembering and added something different, or to a different site, instead.

I've done multiple GoodReads giveaways, and they're great for getting people to add your book to their lists, but I'm not so sure about follow-through (with the people who didn't win actually going out to read or buy the book). If you have some spare copies lying around, it's a fun thing to do that puts your book on a few people's radar.

My Goodreads giveaway ended last week. Over 600 entered, zero sales so far. Oh well. Time will tell, I guess.

Perhapa after you send the books, some of your winners will review it. That might generate interest.

goodreads givaways

I am also just learning to navigate the goodreads site. I do have a question-I set a giveaway for May 10-July 10th--as they only allow a 1 month giveaway from what I gather, right? And they specifically state you must have the book ready to ship to the winners at the end of the giveaway, so since my book's release date is July 8th, I assume I will have it by July 10th.

But i'd love to start it early just for the excitement! LOL This can't be done, right? I don't totally understand it!

I believe you are supposed to have the book in your hand before starting a giveaway to ensure that there isn't a snafu down the road. You will need to check with GR for the length of time for a giveaway.
