Been watching the storm coverage, reading updates on FB from my East Coast friends. Wow. Crazy.

Hope everyone stays safe. Meanwhile, beautiful fall weather here in So Cal.

ac, I saw that picture of Frankenstorm on Facebook. If it were real, I'd be freaking out.

I saw a photo of a squirrel who supposedly had his head stuck in a Halloween skull.

Have a safe night, all storm-afflicted fornsteners! Check in every once in a while and let us know you're ok, if you have power and stuff.

I'm bringing all of my mental powers to bear and I aim to have this thing lifted by morning, so hang tight.

We had a 500-year flood a couple of years ago. It was odd; I never lost power, but the local phone exchange was flooded so I lost land line and Internet service. I spend the week with police cars and TV camera crews parked in front of my house (I live near a river); one day Anderson Cooper showed up.

Just had an honest-to-Fr*g flicker which took out the interwebz for a few minutes. Hard wind gust and a *thump* sound out there.

If I go plaid, I'll check back as soon as able.

Back to work, but only for 3 days for me this week! I took Thurs off and Frid was my off day anyway - I arranged it so for NaNoWriMo! Very excited this year.

People are reporting high water and power outages all over the northeast.

We had the coverage on all day! Thinking mighty good thoughts and prayers for our eastern friends. I hope they are all prepared and look at this craziness as unscheduled writing time!

They'll get through it, but floods can do a lot of damage. When we had the flood in 2010 you could drive down street after street and everything that had been in the house was now on the curb waiting to be hauled away. I must have saw a hundred pianos on the curb just in my local area.

Hope y'all stay safe and have power. I heard on TV a news crew were staying in a store to report the news about the hurricane.Then the police chief told them they had to move. A few minutes later, a big wave came in and knocked out the whole store. They sure could've been hurt. Thankfully, everyone was okay.That was a good story... Sometimes they report the news - sometimes they are the news.

best wishes to all our friends facing the storm. My prayers are with you, please do your best to keep safe and check in when you can.

The BBC won't tell me specifically how you're all doing.

It's very hot here. I'm sitting under a fan, with the window open for what breeze there is, in shorts and a T-shirt, and I'm BOILING.

I guess Summer's started already here...

Oh no!

I have the air conditioner on now. I would've had it on most of the day, but I wasn't sure if it was safe to use...

Basically, it's meant to be serviced once a year, and a cover put on for Winter. (It doesn't do heat.) Well, I wasn't sure if the cover was on, or if it was safe, etc.

Once mum got home, I knew... So now I'm (slowly) cooling down. Maybe I'll even be able to get some sleep?
