So I've written out a rough version of my story between my father and me. I find I like writing in short chunks, the chapters only a couple pages each. I am reading a book right now and the chapters are only three or four pages and it really works for her story.

I think it will work for mine too....

But here's my question- will agents or publishers not like that style for a memoir?

And realistically, how long does it have to be? I tend to be a concise writer, and always find I'm shorter in word count than I thought.

I think my rough draft was at 50k. So is that not going to fly in the publishing world?

Well, I hope short chapters are good, because mine are short too.

50K is about the minimum for a full-length adult book. Although the preferred is 70-90K, it's better to be on the low side of those optimal numbers rather than the high side.

Oh, yes, and when you get up to 50 posts, you can post a chapter or two in the memoir section of Share Your Work. The password is vista.
