I am really new at this. katiemac answered the post and her comments appeared in blue print following the words she edited. Does this occur when you write behind the words of the quote, or is there a tool that does this?

I am really new at this. katiemac answered the post and her comments appeared in blue print following the words she edited. Do you mean like this? Does this occur when you write behind the words of the quote, or is there a tool that does this? It's a couple of tools, actually.

Look at the reply window. At the top you'll see a couple of lines of icons. Top row, from left to right:

A couple of letters with a red X through them: Remove text formatting.

"Fonts" drop-down box. Highlight some text, then change the font in that section, like this.

Next drop-down box, "Sizes." You can change the size of your writing here.

Next, a Capital-A with a thick line under it. That's the tool for changing font color. Like this.

After that you get to smilies: :poke:

Attachments. Undo and Redo. Increase and decrease size of the editing window.

And Switch Editor Modes.

And that's the top row of tools available in the Reply box.

=======

ETA: If you're using the Quick Reply box, you get the selection of icons mentioned here by using the Go Advanced button.

The OP and its reply have been split from a query letter thread.

Everyone, please check the original dates on threads to which you reply. It's great to go back and read old critiques but please do not resurrect them unless they are only a few days old.

The bottom row of icons:

B is boldface
I is italic
U is underline
The next three icons are for left justify, center, and right justify.

The next two are for lists: Ordered list and unordered list.

The following two are for outdent and indent.

A globe with a chain: Link to a URL.
A chain with a red-X: Remove link to a url

A sheet of paper and an envelope: Insert email link

A picture postcard: Insert image

A dialog balloon: Quote

#: Code
<>: HTML
php: PHP

ABC: Strike out

[SUP]sup[/SUP]: Superscript
[SUB]sub[/SUB]: Subscript

Again, this is from the Quote button or the Go Advanced button.
