I bought a pie at Publix Friday. They call it a peach cobbler pie rather than just a peach pie (even though it looks like a regular pie). It's not as good as a homemade pie, but it's pretty good.

We just got back from seeing "Flight". Denzel was wonderful.

I do NOT recommend this for queasy flyers, which I'm not. :D

Just got back from Breaking Dawn Part 2 :e2thud:

I'm sad to see it end, but there were a few previews that I was totally excited for. It looks like the movie adaptation of Warm Bodies is going to be pretty funny.

Three hours of sorting how many teddy bears?

I mean, we have a lot of stuffed animals, but I bet I could sort them all in half that time, and teddies make up no more than a fourth of the collection.

Maryn, who bought a rather nice cow cheap last week

1,643. :) It was a lot. A lot a lot. Are you on Facebook? I've got pictures. It was so much fun--and the bears all go to kids with cancer. :)

Wow, that is a lot a lot A LOT! It takes a good and decent human being to do that out of choice, for the sheer pleasure it brings to do something kind. :Hug2:

I've got cherry and pumpkin pie in the freezer. Husband forgot cool whip. Grrr. I've got heavy whipping cream but that's for caramel syrup over pancakes the day after Thanksgiving.

I'm listening to sound of our new fridge/freezer thing gurgling away in the background. It was delivered on Saturday after a couple of weeks without one. I now understand why Jarman efficiency is so vaunted - they arranged to deliver it between 7am and 2pm. They showed up at 6.30pm!

Still, never has the sound of a temperature controlled food cooling unit sounded so much like jazz!

ROAR :D

Good morning, house of cool people!

I've just bought an Aw'er's book as a Christmas stocking-filler for my grandkid! :snoopy: Regdog's Dog of War. I can't wait for it to get here.

Is it okay to read a book before you give it as a gift? Or is that, like cheating, and stuff?

:D

I think you better had, Gail! You need to make sure it's not chock full of hanky-panky!

Did someone mention hanky-panky?

Someone needs a spanky!

Hey, Pie People. How far ahead of Thanksgiving can I make a pecan pie? Usually I do it Thanksgiving day, but this year's menu, there will be battles for use of the oven. Can I make it Wednesday and refrigerate it? How about Tuesday?

I can't believe this. Maryn asked a pie question and AC didn't pounce!

Maryn, I'd bake it tomorrow but I wouldn't refrigerate it. Just keep it in an air-tight container in a cool place. It should keep just fine and that's one less thing to prepare.

Which reminds me. It's time I started making Christmas mince pies. Not that I need to keep them until Christmas - just that my family loves them so much that we never seem to get our fill of them. Maybe if I start now, we'll be tired of them by the end of Christmas. :D

Ha. Maybe.

Did AC say he was going to spank the muppet?

What happened to shooting him? The muppet must've softened the cat up with all his jazz and charm.

Sorry, Maryn, I know not of what ye ask. *not much of a pie baker*

As a matter-of-fact I think I'll be at Gail's for Christmas. She has pie. :D

I don't have a very good answer, but I know there are sometimes kept out for a week (at homes and in stores). I would think one would last at least that long just being out and covered (it wouldn't last a week at my house . . . I would eat it).
