OK. So it's dull, dreary and raining. A thoroughly miserable day. What would you do to cheer yourself up? Something that doesn't cost the earth but makes you feel better.

I'm still thinking...

NY, usually.
Cookies!

The Scandinavians handle it with a lot of candles and fresh flowers. And coffee and cake. And beer.

Personally, I would go out for a serious walk in it (or drive, if necessary) to get something nice and easy for dinner, getting cold and damp in the process. Come in, dry off, have a hot drink and make cookies, then get yourself in a cozy corner with your feet tucked up and your hot cookies and some warm lighting, and read. With a nice and easy dinner to look forward to. Cat optional.

I love the sound of this.

I have two cats who are about to get some serious cuddles.

Coffee and a good book.

A nap.

Watch a great old B&W movie.

Buy a new journal or notebook.

Put some seeds out for the birds.

Make hot apple cider.

Go play with the dogs and cats at the local animal shelter.

Make Irish coffee.

Make your own mobile out of old cards you've received.

Write a letter or send a "thinking about you" card to an old person.

Buy new shoes (if you're female).

Buy some new tool (if you're male).

Wine.

I used to quilt. Don't know why I ever packed it in. It's very relaxing. Guess I just got too many quilts.
My mother quilted. She loved making the tops, but it was more of a job to make a quilt out of it; so she made three or four tops for every finished quilt.

Ever have a quilting party? My mother and her friends would from time to time.

Sounds like a good idea. I don't know of anyone else that quilts though.

I'm doing one by hand. It's just a crazy quilt, most of the fabrics came from goodwill or were given to me. It takes up a lot of time but it's sooo relaxing if you have the interest.

Of course, you have to picture it with a nice border :)

Take some old fabrics and make some springtime stuffs. Like I took a yellow shirt with blue strips and sewed it to the back of a jean pocket to make "pot holders". But really, I tested them, and they are only thick enough to set hot pots and pans on. But they are pretty, and cheery. :D

We have a theme wall, above our fireplace. I hope to decorate it for spring time today. It'll brighten things up.

Take a bath, get dressed, do your hair and makeup, watch fun movies. Make cards for friends, write letters.

Boil your own air freshner, orange peels, cinnamon sticks (I break it up into smaller chunks) other kinds of citrus and fruit peels and bit. Put it in a pot, fill with water and set to simmer on the backburner. I love doing this, and only mention it because I just did this yesterday and my home smelled like cinnamon-oranges for quite a while.

Rearrange your furniture, it'll give your place a new outlook. Wash your curtains, I think they are the most abused fabrics (if you don't count carpets) in a home. Replace them.

Do something active that you enjoy, and your day will brighten up. :)

Find two or three people who want to learn.

I think my mother and her friends would sometimes have as many as eight quilters at a time.

I have a special quilt my mom made for me. Each block represents one of the state of the US (50 total). It shows the state flower and state bird. Each one is hand embroidered.

Thanks. It really isn't. You just cut the fabric into small pieces and baste them onto a plain square of fabric(I use cheap broadcloth), and then hand sew them. I used the herringbone stitch and I sew using embroidery floss(three strands). Oh and you overlap the pieces when you baste them.
