That (RobJ's suggestion) would be an excellent idea. See, here's how it seems to go. Someone arrives, very eager to post work for feedback. Their desire to improve is genuine. They race to hit 50 posts, but in doing so many take the easy path, posting in the places where there's no sense of community, making no friends, giving nothing of himself/herself by helping others improve their work.
It's a fine example of what goes around coming around. While there are people here who are generous with their time and expertise, there are also cynics like me who won't do critiques for someone who's new and seems to have no intention of becoming part of our community, in essence arriving with his or her hand out to see what we will give instead of what s/he can give to us. So people we don't know and like get far fewer critiques, and often get their few from less experienced writers. (Not always, certainly.)
Yeah, it's cold, but seriously, what reason do I have to think you're ever going to help anyone else here, or make any effort to become one of us?
