FOCUS SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE
A May submission would be for an October publication.
The May assignment is: Your choice of nonfiction essay or article, fiction, short story or poetry.
THEME: Horrific, Haunting, Heroic, or Humongous. (These words do not need to be used in the title or story, but the theme of the story should somehow relate to one of them.)
1,500 words or fewer.
Poetry must be 25 lines or less.
DEADLINE: Friday, May 11, 2007 at Midnight US EST.
HOW TO ENTER:
DO NOT POST ARTICLE OR ESSAY IN THIS THREAD.
Using the board's private message function, (Same as before) send me your article.
Place "Contest Entry" in the subject line of the PM.
Make sure your piece is titled.
One line above the piece may mention type of piece and market target.
All entries must be titled.
Only one entry per person.
WHO CAN ENTER: Any Absolute Write member.
**Any entries not meeting guideline and entry specifications will automatically be disqualified and thrown into the editor’s slush pile.
This activity is aimed to enrich your freelance skills, generate article ideas, and inspire you to produce copy that is satisfactory for publication on a timely basis. It is also aimed to encourage you to write on assignment, under deadline, and instruct you to fully read all guidelines before submitting
Members will vote for one winner each month.
A completed article, ready to send for publication, will be a token to yourself and your writing career. And yes, there will be a prize, too.
