Hi Nanci, welcome.

You can't have a custom avatar until you have 50 posts. You can use one of the generic ones until then...go to User CP and choose Edit Avatar.

You can't upload a custom avatar picture until you have 50 posts. It's just one of the forum rules. You can use one of the stock avatar images now if you'd like.

Don't worry, if you hang around here any time at all you'll soon have 50 posts.
