Pick a color (colour)...any color (colour). And then write a poem to celebrate that color (colour)!

It's that easy. Post your color (colour) poetry here!

Orange

It has always called to me,
slithered down my willing throat
and made me all but whole,
tangerine and burnt sienna,
amber angry and blood sweet too.
I'll fill my life with tangerine,
zest and creativity
will follow me and swallow me.
Orange passion capitulates,
seeps me into surrender
and pulls me under
to an acquiescence most divine.

ASH

Polluted clouds
sifting through fingers.
Color of dark dreams,
curling cushion hair
swirling swirling
ember glows red,
pluffs to the ground
a dejected tear

*A/N PLUFF is a word b'c I say so

Puce

What colour is puce?
Is it rich? Is it loose?
Does it grow or reduce
when it's taking abuse?
It's the rope of the noose,
too diffuse to seduce.
Will I find it in use
on a Canada goose,
on a moose,
in a mousse,
or in cranberry juice?
No excuse,
I'm obtuse,
I'll vamoose.

I wrote this seven or eight years ago.

The Poet's Dilemma

You may write a stirring homage
To the stately rocks of Stonehenge
But no matter how you forage
You will find no rhyme for orange.

That's what I got for right now. I'll try to come up with something better later.

I Really Did Used to Be Blond

Oh, sing a song of color,
A head half full of gray -
That is, if gray a true hue be,
Or if, like black
A color it lacks.
It's all confusing to me.

Green

It's been too long, my verdant friend,
How good it is to see you.
This cold has had us all locked down,
But now it's time to free you.

The grass and tress are beautiful,
Now blushing with your color.
Winter's fine, but I'll need some time
Before I face another.

Periwinkle Blue Plant

A blue in green under a shade
of bushy shrub goes growing
along a curve of graveled specks
-its shape the wind did blowing
It covers ground and weed it hides
this periwinkle showing
gloss leaves and bloom and running roots
only stopping where its going.

'They' say that teal
has no appeal
among the nouveau riche

But I don’t care
teal’s what I wear
cause I’m a selfish ‘biche’

 *teehee* Sorry.......

Red and yellow (fire)

A wood fired kiln.
Embers slowly float skyward.
Will you become stars?

Blue (Tanka)

Tricked by sulfur lights.
Hiding from me in plain sight.
Every car looks blue.
I’m searching the parking lot.
I hear my car snickering.

Gray

You are like shattered gray
The space between
Night and day
When the sun rises in the east
Or when a storm sets over the west
And eaglets cry
Wet
Between stone outcroppings

'my favorite colour is green'

she decided this
while gazing at his blue eyes.

she was a golden child once
she recited important documents
she shined around adults
she was very young

reflection is a property of gold
he was wearing a blue shirt

Red is the color of my true love's eyes
I wish he'd stop drinking so much.

Deep Purple are the bruises he gave me last night
I wish he'd stop drinking so much.

Feeling kinda Blue for what I'm about to do
I wish he'd stop drinking so much.

Yellow is the color of the crime scene tape
He wouldn't stop drinking so much.

in white you danced,
skipping stylishly amongst
two hundred pairs of shoes

loose tendrils were expected,
but your hair flew wildly
tickling your neck
and teasing too many imaginations

it's not the hall.
nor the guest list
not the ring of gold,
or two thousand petals of red-

those
flailing tendril,
and your random gaze
from eyes so dark

that's why I came

but I stayed to watch you eat the cake

I strangled myself once with red lace
They say that tragedies must come in twos
My face is not my face
I play a game of me
And I lose.

Rainbow

You think of me, a vow once made
for weather fair, so it’s portrayed.
An arc of colour blended well
I reach from Heaven down to Hell.
Seven colours in my bow,
my shimmer sets the sky aglow.
Red, the first, the outer rim,
stain of passion, anger, sin.
Orange, the next, the hue of fire,
flamboyance, warning and desire.
Caution comes with yellow’s line,
it brings the warmth of pure sunshine.
Nature’s green is next in view,
sign of hope but envy too.
Blue so icy, cold and calm,
the shade of sadness, winter’s psalm.
Indigo, the great dispute.
Newton’s claims were oft refute.
And last the mystic violet, hue
of harmony and kingship too.
You’ll find me when the weather clears
after the rain has shed its tears.
Trapped in a prism too, am I
released by light, I never die.

Fading Grey

I live in shades
of empty

no white
no black

just the color
of my mind's

eye

my color
of empty

is faded

just hints

of fading grey

Go Green poem

Lush garden wall
unforseen path called
wide lane beckoned,
heart skipped a beat
before the entrance of
a monstrous labrynith
where, forever lost,
dragons came forth.

Red

Slowly turning red
like a schoolgirl’s blushing cheeks--
Soon fresh tomatoes.

i've always disliked orange
the color
the word
those who pronounce it 'ornj'
offend my ears,
as i offend them--
unintentionally
