Oh, too bad. They are pretty cheap here, but the cooler I'd get at a second hand store (I think once I just borrowed one.)

As for Facebook, those who don't check aren't interested in whether it's really true as much as in the excitement of the drama they can swim in.

I don't go there. :)

Yeah. But I'm easily annoyed. If I unfriended everyone who pisses me off I'd mostly be talking to myself. :tongue

What is a 'facebook'? Is this a new novel all about expressions? :D

'Tis a website, full of magical things like...

...

Oh! No, the games are rubbish. Seeing the same photos seven times a day! No, not that either. Couples having domestics in full view of everyone! Hmmm. Hate that too.

...

There must be something.

...

It's socialising for the anti-social. There. It's that. :tongue

OMG. Such a shock to find you're not alone in the house.

The only reason I really use it is to see the pix of the grandkids and to keep up with what's going on with family that lives far away.

I went over to the new hoose to let the gas inspector in. Three leaking radiators and the flue for the new boiler hasn't been fitted properly. He fixed the radiators but I need other workies to sort out the flue. Great.

I took over a suitcase of clothes and a bag of books, and dislocated both my shoulders. :tongue I've got an all-day bus ticket so I'll loaf about for a bit then move some more stuff.

Perhaps I could, but I probably won't. :D

Trying not to fall asleep. I also ran up to the council offices and handed in my application for furniture, and I had to drag my stuff all the way up the stairs to their offices because the gas inspector guy could have turned up any time between noon and 5pm. I am never, ever, EH-var moving again. :D

I do actually have a facebook account. However, I'm never on it. I just can't be bothered. Perhaps I should be, I dunno. Maybe when my book is published I'll feel more like participating in social media. Well, maybe not feel like it, but probably more the 'have to' thing.

The only game I tend to play is chess on my computer. I set the level to one which means I can beat it. And, oh boy, it's really stupid when it is set to the first level.

I have approximately 63 million games. They're not all installed, though. I'd need a computer the size of the moon. :D

Sorry about the shoulders and the radiators/flue. Bummer.

No. No. No. That's not the fun way to be a grandparent. It's only fun when you can spoil 'em and give them back to their parents to take home - their own home. I hope the supporting them on their own comes very soon! But it's nice that you can help them out in the meantime.

:hi: nelehjr!! Welcome to AW and the pub! I see you already got yourself a drink. Good. You'll fit right in.

*checks dumbwaiter to see what goodies Rock may have sent up*

*rummages in fridge*

Hummm, leftover roasted ogre, blackened troll. . .

Anyone want a troll or ogre sandwich for lunch while I'm fixin' them?

*rummages some more; finds veggies, cream cheese and tortillas*

Maybe Fran will like some vegetarian roll-ups made from these.

While I'm rummaging, I might as well make up the list for another pub order.

*makes notes of what the pub is low on*
*finds extra large stash of peanuts*

Hey, Jed. I thought you gave all the peanuts to the minion? You planning to give him a bonus for hiding in his cell. . . er room and getting some editing done?

Anyone who can sit down and concentrate on editing deserves a bonus. ;)

I have no idea why, but I don't mind editing someone else's work, but when it comes to my own I just hate it.

Wish my kids had grandparents like you guys :) My son is 12 yo. My parents babysat him for me once, when he was 3 weeks old so I could go out for my birthday. My daughter is 7. The only time they've ever taken the two of them was the day after my house burned down. We had to go meet the fire inspector, etc, etc...Mom started phoning after two hours to ask when we'd be back. They don't even come to their birthday parties, always having Much More Important Things to do. They'll drop off a gift on the day of and leave less than half an hour later.

I don't quite get it, and I think they might regret it one day, when it finally dawns on them how much they missed out on. Or they won't.

I'm strange, I guess. I love to edit what I have. It's the filling a blank page that I have trouble with!

That's easy. It's easier to be objective when someone else wrote it!

When it's your own work, you want to justify why that particular piece of garbage sentence/paragraph/section is important exactly as it is. Also, it's easier from a purely proof-reading point - when you read something you wrote, you know what you wanted to say and all the little peices of background info that may not have been revealed yet to the reader. It's easier for someone who doesn't know all that to catch the typos that spellcheck will miss because it's a real word, find awkward phrases, and point out things that just don't make sense.

Tell me about it. I've missed some pretty easy typos in my own work over the years. Is it 'bear with me' or 'bare with me', such stuff like that which will get you every time. Or at least get me. :D

I was accused of being a technical writer in a past life with the stuff I've found (dele extra space, etc). Yet someone will always catch something little I missed in my own stuff.

At least he knows they're not supposed to be spelled that way. :D

Sometimes I wonder about how wilfully ignorant some people are. Like people who say "I've never read a book!", all pleased with themselves, and I'm like "You've never read a book? And you're proud of this? Get away from me, you fiend!"

I have a friend who says this just to annoy me.

One of my brothers doesn't read books. It drives my mum up the wall. She challenged him to read a book, and tell her what happened at the end. He did, then said he'd only read the first and last chapters, and reading the whole thing would have been a complete waste of time because she only wanted to know how it ended. :tongue

And my other brother didn't know who Eeyore was. :D
