If I had to boil it down to my absolute all-time favourites, it would have to be:
The W's (even despite the fact that their band name is grammatically incorrect)
The Blood Brothers
Adam and the Ants
Voodoo Economics
Billy Talent

Def Leppard.

No, I don't think they're fabulous musicians. Good, but not tops.

Reason: They had an accident while making an album and touring in (I think) Great Britain. Drummer lost an arm. They waited for him to recover AND to develop a drum set he could use with one arm, and he's still with them.

Awesome story, and I'll buy their albums forever for that one reason.

“Lollapalooza” and “The Moody Blues” are mine, because I really like when they perform live.

Devin Townsend (the guy is a musical genius)
Coheed and Cambria (was surprised not to see this band named earlier)
Xiu Xiu (jamie stewart made me interested in playing guitar again)
Owen Pallet (i've kind of got a crush on him)
Patrick Wolf (he got me through some tough times)
Eisley (the whimsy and and romance they weave into their songs is wonderful)
Kate Bush (the ninth wave never fails to get to me)
Peaches (i don't know why I love her so much)
Former Ghosts (i heard the perfect description of this band: Ian Curtis if he went solo and played a synthesizer)
Zola Jesus (just found out about her, i wish i had a singing voice like her)
Tyler, The Creator (love his perverse coming-of-age lyrics)
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow (some of the best melodic death metal I've heard)
Broadcast (learned about them too late, after the singer died)
Say Anything (Max Beemis is years beyond his craft)

Nightwish (simply the epitome of music. Period.)
Within Temptation
Epica (I only choose Nightwish over them because Nightwish has more variety--Epica is pretty much the height of symphonic metal, with vocals for the ages)
Leaves' Eyes (though their new stuff is getting a bit strange)
Sarah Jezabel Deva/Angtoria (a little on the emo side but her voice is amazing)
Aesma Daeva (probably the best band to ever come out of the US, so naturally no-one's ever heard of them)
Arcana (best neoclassical/darkwave I've found)
Tyr (how can you not love a band that shouts "Hold the heathen hammer high!"?)
Switchblade Symphony (ah, the 90s, back when goth was actually cool)
Xandria (only band to ever do love songs actually worth listening to)
My Ruin (again, way too good to be popular in the US)
Cradle of Filth

^^^^ You like some awesome bands :)

My top 5 at the moment

1. Emilie Autumn (Without a doubt, the most creative and singer in the world today and she is so sadly underated. It's a shame she's not more well known :( )

2. Placebo

3. Within Temptation

4. Muse

5. Lacuna Coil
