Interesting. To be honest, I don't tend to think of someone reading my stuff as he or she. I just think of the reader. And thinking my published book and the to be published one, the most important characters in both books are women. That wasn't a conscious decision; it's just how the stories worked.

Interesting. It's good for equality, I guess; as a reader, though, I don't really mind having more or less females in a book. Throwing in a female character for the sake of not seeing discriminatory/sexist would not bode well with me.
