As someone who is Jewish and went to Jewish day school for 10 years, I'm quite versed on what's kosher and what's not. (Though I grew up in love with bacon, so we didn't quite follow the school rules at home) ;) Marshmallows aren't but there are a lot of Kosher products that taste very very similar to the original.

So I sent a job interview nudge today. It's been 3 weeks since the interview and they told me I'd know in 2. I'm so nervous..... I know I probably didn't get it but it's a job I'd die for.

Since handing in my R&R...this the first time in over a year i haven't been writing. Honestly it feels kinda nice to take a break ;)

Catching up ....

Vandal - Just read your other thread. Sorry about that and hope you get those rights back. All of us who deal with small pubs know they are operating on a shoestring, but you'd hope they'd be professional about it if things go south. Keep us posted.

Cricket - If the call tomorrow is what you think (and it may not be), it is only a temporary setback. I say this as someone who has three former agents (2 for books, one for screenplays) and a former manager (screenplays). And the latest former agent was quite recent - we split when she decided she didn't want to go a second round with a rewrite (which she didn't even want to read). Not faulting her - her first round was solid, if not successful. I turned around and sent that book to a small publisher on my own and it is going to come out in September. You know most everyone here in purgatory has similar stories to tell (and we all know that you'll be telling your story to others down the road after your well-deserved success finally comes).

Kia - sounds like you're going all Office Space on your co-workers. Time to take the baseball bat to the copier. Show 'em who's in charge, yo!

Millions of things to do between now and tuesday. I am checking them off one by one. :)

Lil, YAY for publicity!

I'm envious of all of you that enjoy the publicity and promotion. The thought of it makes me want to go fetal.

Smiley - fingers crossed for the job. Maybe you were second best or something and they wanted to hear back from no. 1 first, or maybe they're just slow. Still sucks though :(

(((Cricket))) Hope the phone call goes alright, if worse comes to worse you know you can write (cause you bagged an agent) so you just need to bag another one.

Vandal - hope it you get your rights back.

Very depressing thread today, at least it's the weekend!

I am having the worst motivational issues with writing! At this point, the only way I get anything done is through self-imposed 15 minute writing sprints. It's like writing is only palatable if I limit my focus time to 15 minute chunks.

I used to really enjoy writing. What happened?

Sometimes, you write a book because you're in love with it. Other times, you write a book because you need the monies.

Red, the girl who just powered through a book she doesn't love because she needs the monies

do you get quiet time to brainstorm
and such? i find the LA drives up very
useful for just thinking. or visuals, like
looking at images of people like your characters
or places set in?

i've shared on twitter and fb,
but i've posted my final chinese beauty
painting: http://cindypon.com/2013/how-now-cindy-pon/

for your friday procrastinative
endeavors. ha!

She's gorgeous! I love her!

you're writing a book a year, blondie.
that is a lot of pressure.

also, it is a job now.

it is such a hard give and take, that's
for sure.

What Cindy said.

This too.

Fecking knackered but I'm done for the day. Will now attempt to write. Somehow, I managed to write 500 last night. If I could do that every night I'd be happy.

Dog walking! It's my only quiet time. :)

At this point, it's purely plotting. If I spent too much time on the sensory details, I get completely sidetracked. I'm the kind of writing that beefs up the descriptions after the first draft, which is probably why I write so short.

I actually happened to learn about pig jelly just last night, watching How it's Made. They were making pork pies. During baking, the pork meat inside shrinks, creating gaps beneath the crust, so they inject it with the fresh pig jelly they've made while the pies are baking. I'll spare the squeamish the deets, but I've seen people make homemade tamales (nommmm) and head cheese, and it's not all that different.

Snappy, are there editors participating in pitmad?

Yes. Looks like some from Entangled and Spencer Hill are participating thus far. May be more lurking about.

Snappy---How did your agent lunch go??

Great lunch. Food was delicious. Possible opportunity, but can't say more than that as I'm sworn to secrecy at present. Sorry. Will say more when I can. *hugs purgies*
