RIP.

Read several of his books in elementary school. They were a bit more challenging than Goosebumps and allowed me to step up to Tolkien's Hobbit and LotR (they I have always spurned the story telling in LotR.)

Oh no!

I've always loved Mossflower. Never read beyond Mossflower, but I read Mossflower like fifty billion times.

Tsarmina always reminded me of Azula.

Or...was it that Azula reminded me of Tsarmina ...

I don't know, the point of the matter is Mossflower was AWESOME.

Damn, that sucks. I devoured those books in elementary school. That mole-speak was tough to read though.

He opened a lot of kids' imaginations.

I stopped reading around books 5-7 of Redwall think, because I got tired of three-page long descriptions of food.
But beyond that, yes, he was an awesome writer.

That's sad. I've never heard of him, but I'm going to look into the books for my stepdaughter. The books sound great!
