I just got word that a friend died. We weren't particularly close, but I worked with him for about 15 years. He was only in his early forties and leaves two teenage kids behind.

There is no reason for anyone to send me sympathy reps (I know most of you would); it's just one of those things in life that isn't pleasant.

Damn, that sucks AC. Close or not, you wouldn't call him a friend if he weren't a good guy (I'm assuming).

Back to pie... Any of you Americans game to try an Aussie beef pie yet? :D

That sounds gross...and just a little bit dirrrty :evil

It's one of the most popular choices for lunch in Australia. Seriously.

I don't like it, because it has gravy in it. Not a fan of gravy.

But yeah, it's popular here. (Maybe because it's dirrrty. ;):tongue)

I've never had Aussie beef pie, but I'd certainly be willing to give it a try.

I swear, I feel like a prodical child. I am having such a hard time staying in touch. I am so mad at myself because when I wake up all I think about all day is writing. I am a horrible procrastinator. My first book is done and I waited for the right time and now my laptop crashed and my son is remotely fixing it from South Carolina. He said everything is safe but it will take several days to defrag it and set up protective programs. I can't imagine how much that would cost me if I had to pay for it...well, any way, I steered a friend of mine here so I immediately came and man, so many new things. well, hello everybody....Em is back and I am coming everyday to hang out. The connection to this site is what keeps me focused......

Hey, Em. :)

And yes, AC, beef pies are (apparently) good. If you come to Australia, just go to any bakery anywhere in the country, and you should be able to buy a beef pie.

Of course, finding the sorts of pies you're used to in America will be a little trickier... You may have to cook a lot of them yourself. We have *some* of the sweet-style American pies over here, but I've never seen some of the ones you've mentioned.

I'm been redoing some wiring and connections this evening. We sure have a lot of electric devices these days; I have at least 22 devices on four outlets (8 plugs) using multiple outlet surge protectors. Including:

Lamp
Fan
TV
DVD player
Another lamp
Clock radio
Cell phone charger
Cordless phone charger
Modem
Computer speakers
Another clock radio
Computer monitor
Another lamp
Desktop coffee mug warmer
CPU
Printer
External drive
Another External drive
CD player
Second computer (which I'm hooking up to the TV, else there would also be a second monitor and speakers)
Kindle Fire charger

You should be poor like me and only own one lamp, a clock, and a laptop. :p But I do have a coffemug warmer, too. :D

:hi: Em, looking forward to seeing more of you in the HoFF. :)

And sorry about your friend, AC. He was so young, what a shame. :Hug2:

So wish that hadn't happened to your friend, ac. That really bites!

The test wasn't as bad as Friday, thankfully, but it still exhausted howie 'n tomorrow the specialist again. It's like we're on the medical route to nowhere. *sigh*...

Let's just hope it only feels that way and only for now. Maybe this will lead to something, somewhere and everything will be okay for Howie. We can only be optimistic at this point. Sending LOTS of love and good wishes your way, across the lands and the seas.

Never good to get that kind of news, ac.

I hope they're getting closer to having Howie fighting fit again, Susie!

I just cut my hand open on a tin can. I left our first aid kit in englandland, but luckily the jarman lady upstairs patched me up. It was like gore central here half an hour ago. And by gore, I mean jazz, of course.

There's nothing harder to clean up than jazz, especially when it dries. Very nice of the jarman lady to patch you up before all of your jazz leaked out. We can't have a muppet waving around weak jazz hands.
