Hey guys! Like a lot of fast and frequent typists, I've basically worn out my keyboard. I'm missing the i key (so typing this is hell) and my buttons are slow and crap. I want to put my other keyboard in the USB port and put it on top of my existing keyboard so I don't have to juggle two. This has the obvious side effect of pressing down on buttons and causing all kinds of typos and general headaches. Is there any way for me to simply deactivate my inbuilt keyboard?

Thanks!

Yup. You can do it by physically opening up your laptop (which it sounds like you have) and unplugging it.

Or, if you're on Windows, you can do this from the Device Manager. You might be tempted to simply uninstall the keyboard, but that doesn't work because Windows will simply automatically reinstall it again. :D So you'll need to switch out the drivers.

1) Open Device Manager
2) Select the internal keyboard. Right click and choose update.

3) Install an incompatible driver for it

Um, why not simply Right-Click it and choose "Disable"? (from point 2).

You could if you have the option available to you.

That was actually something I've tried in the past to disable my extra keyboards. However, neither my laptop nor my PC have the disable option available for keyboards even under an admin account.

I'm curious as to whether you can disable yours in that way? :)
