A lawyer associated with the Alliance Defending Freedom, a vehemently homophobic Christian law group, is being held in federal custody after being arrested by FBI agents on suspicion of the sexual exploitation of a child and possessing images of child abuse.

Lisa Biron from Manchester in New Hampshire was due to be in court over separate charges of the possession of images of child abuse when federal agents arrested her.

The 43-year-old lawyer is accused of transporting a female under the age of 18 to the Canadian city of Ontario to engage in sexual activity that was filmed. The authorities accuse her of using the website Craigslist to advertise access to the victim.

The moral fibre of these anti-gay groups never cease to amaze. And they have the nerve to stand there and say that I am a threat to public morality!

I wish this was more specific. Because I don't know if she took a five year old to a pedophile's house or helped a 17 year old find her way onto an adult film set.

And, it would be nice if they had mentioned what city. 'Ontario' is a Canadian province, with many cities in it: among them Toronto, and Ottawa (the national capital - maybe a political scandal for us?)
There's a distinct lack of detail here.

Why is she charged with possessing "Images of child abuse" and not just "child pornography"?

Quote from the article:

The 43-year-old lawyer is accused of transporting a female under the age of 18 to the Canadian city of Ontario to engage in sexual activity that was filmed. The authorities accuse her of using the website Craigslist to advertise access to the victim.
She didn't just film the child, she had 'sexual activity' (what an evil euphemism) and filmed that. Sex with a minor is child abuse ergo the charge.

The article doesn't state that she filmed the child or had sex with the child. It says that she's accused of "transporting" the child in order for the child to "engage in sexual activity" (with a third party) "that was to be filmed" (possibly by a third party).

The only city named Ontario is the one in the Los Angeles MSA.

So she forced or coerced someone described as in their 'early' teens to have sex.

The irony is strong with this one.

"...to the Canadian city of Ontario..." lol

I feel like I've become immune to these sorts of stories. There are just so many horrible things going on out there.

Stories like this really make me have to struggle to figure out which of my personality fragments should be allowed to answer.

Anger: This worthless hypocritical child-molesting dirtbag is getting far better than she deserves.
Cynical: Wow, a prejudiced hypocrite. Never seen one of those before.
Orientation: Wow, a prejudiced hypocrite. Never seen one of those before.
Teenaged: Even I know how dumb posting evidence of crimes on the internet is.
Thinking Big: Why, why does humanity waste its potential on this sort of behavior?
Thinking Small: I rarely rejoice when someone's life collapses around their ears, but I think I'll make an exception here.
Anger again: WHERE IS A KATANA WHEN YOU REALLY NEED ONE

Uh, well...duh. But isn't ALL child pornography "images of child abuse"? It doesn't really make much sense to describe it that way, when the charge is usually called "possession of child pornography."

Apparently "child pornography" is also referred to as "child abuse images."

ETA: it appears to be a newer phrase? Used because "pornography" implies consent.
