Max Gartenberg Literary Agency

bobbylew

It seems that most threads on this board tend to lean towards the negative about litereary agents and rightfully so. I just want to get the word out that I have an agent by the name of Anne Devlin who is with the Max Gartenberg agency who has been trying to sell my manuscript for a couple of months. I am VERY happy with her work. She sends me the letters(of rejection) LOL and has answered my emails in a timely manner. My manuscript may not sell, but it sure won't be because of my agent not pushing hard enough!

That's really good for you. Good luck with you piece. I don't notice where there is a lot of agent bashing going on here; just that some have had bad experiences.

A quick search on Amazon.com reveals Max is a writer as well as an agent. The books listed are between US$7 to US$33, with average about US$13.

I queried Dirk Devlin in March. Weeks after I sent the query, I was offered representation from a different agent. On April 1, he emailed me asking for the first three chapters via snail mail. I told him I already had an offer, but thanked him for his interest. Overall, my experience with him was professional and satisfactory.
