My first ebook, Run Like Hell, is now available

I am beyond excited. We're still waiting on the official cover to arrive (it's only a placeholder right now) but it's uploaded and available.

Click on today's blog link for a short blurb on how it came to be and links to the book if you're interested

http://elenaandrews.blogspot.com/2012/02/wow.html

"Elena Andrews' Run Like Hell is a spectacular debut. Suspenseful, with beautifully drawn characters--this is a wonderful new voice in fiction!"
Heather Graham, New York Times Best-Selling Author

Updated my blog with a look at several of the covers to 'Run Like Hell' that people created as well as links to the book itself.

It's a few days in and it may not seem like much compared to some of the other great success stories out there but I had my first reader feedback

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/run-...=2940014034036

Quote:
My heart was pounding from the opening pages as Morgan makes her fateful (and reckless) decision and the feeling didn't stop until the last page. A fast paced highly suspenseful thriller with twists and turns throughout that grabs you from the very beginning and never lets go. Believable characters and highly recommended for teens or adults.
Doing my best to try from clicking on Amazon and B&N several times a day to check sales/commentary and just focus on WRITING

Reviews seem good and I have a few sales on there that aren't from my mom or husband so that's nice, haha.

Just updated the blog with a look at the 'rainbow' of alternate covers some friends did. Which is your favorite?

One week in and 10 5 star reviews. Okay, I'm less nervous about what people think of the book. Now I just need more people to buy it, haha.

Okay, I gotta ask... the cover in your icon is eye catching, but when I click on the link to Amazon.com it's a hot pink color with... something behind it. A woman standing? I can't tell. Why are they different?

Thank you very much. And yes I'm thrilled with the reaction to the book so far. Very happy that people other than my mom like the book

The cover in my avatar was done by my brother waiting for the official cover to arrive. In the meantime the cover on Amazon was done by a friend who didn't know my brother had done one up. My friend had fun with it and designed a rainbow of covers:
http://www.elenaandrews.blogspot.com...ok-covers.html

The 'official' cover came and I actually didn't like it so a lot of people seemed to prefer pink so I went with that. Never changed the avatar...though I suppose I should.

Leading up to the release/upload my fear was 'what will people think'? Will they like it? Will it sell? Sales are decent enough I suppose but I've found that even more than that what really calmed my nerves was when the first reviews started to come in and people liked the book.

Knowing that people enjoyed a story I wrote...that they paid for...that just made me feel so good and told me bascially 'I can do this'.

Now I just need to keep writing. I have a short story and a new novel that should be ready by Mid March and continue to work on spreading the word about Run Like Hell.

Feel free to 'like' the book on Amazon or recommend it on GoodReads. Any publicity helps!

Yesterday was a very good day for the book. We had another surge and the book went all the way down/up to around 20k on the Amazon list. Not much compared to some of the successes here but it really made my day.

Hoping the support continues today.

Very excited to be the first interview ever for a brand new site focusing on authors.

Here's their blurb: Ever wanted to learn more about authors and how they work their magic behind the closed doors of their secret lairs? Welcome to the very first post on my Author Interview Initiative!

The plan is that we all, myself included, get to learn more about a whole bunch of great authors, new and established, indie and traditionally published. We'll hear about their work, their lives, and anything else I can tempt them to share with us.

Today was another all time high for me in terms of sales. So far my March sales are ahead of my February total sales. Sooo happy. Hope the momentum keeps up. Hoping to finish the final edits on my 2nd book in the next couple of days

Congratulations, Elena. One of the joys of self-pub is getting to pick your own covers (trust me, I know!).

For what it matters, the cover you're using as your icon made me interested in your book. When I flipped over to Amazon and saw the actual cover, I decided to pass. I know the story is the same, I know the words are the same, I know this shouldn't matter and I do feel terribly shallow -- but I judge an e-book by its e-cover.

That said, when a friend told me he didn't appreciate the cover of my SF novel (today's icon), I just laughed. I like my cover and think it's true to the book so I kept it. Since your sales are soaring, there's no reason to listen to the one grump who, clearly, knows little about cover art.

No offense taken. I was happy to have had so many great covers made and we were switching them around for awhile. Currently we're running with the pink which seemed to be the favorite early cover so I've changed the avatar too. My fault for not doing so sooner and leading to some confusion.

Since sales from Run Like Hell were basically 10-1 Amazon over B&N I decided to take the plunge early and try out the KDP select.

If you have a Kindle and are a member of Amazon Prime you can also get a loan of the book for FREE right now:

http://amzn.to/wq4YNG

I also did a blog update discussing the transition a bit so check it out if you're interested:

http://www.elenaandrews.blogspot.com...t-program.html

You can also find me on Facebook and 'like' my page. Always looking to find more folks on FB so check it out at Elena Andrews or Elena Andrews Author.

Thanks!
