I'm in need of a publisher for a study guide that I have written. It is a chapter-by-chapter summary of a very influential book for which there is a SparkNotes but not a Cliff Notes. I have been unable to find any other study guides that provide what my study guide does: a summary of the material as the author originally presented it. The book itself is in the public domain, so quotations are not a problem.
Other books analyze the writings of the author, the "story behind the story" and developments in the field since the book's publication. In my own study of the subject, I find such meta-analyses of the book of limited value to students.
My book therefore opens each chapter with a set of bullet points, followed by a "Summary in brief" (which is essentially what the SparkNotes provides) and follows with a much more detailed summary.
I have been completely unable to identify a publisher for this study guide. Most academic publishers charge about three times my target price (no student is going to pay $50 for a study guide to a book they can get for $5), and textbook publishers don't want to deal with me because I don't teach a class in which the study guide would be required reading (and therefore guaranteed sales every semester).
Any suggestions?
