Ahem---I don't think fifty-something is that old (especially since I'm a member of that club )
Then again, when I was 21 54 seemed positively ancient--but now that I'm 54, 80 seems ancient
Most are very nicely worded, and have a very comforting tone, but the underlying message is still the same, "I can't sell this crap, don't waste my time until you have some decent credits, loser."
Nah, you gotta think positive--"I could sell this masterpiece, but my time is so limited, and I'd be doing you a major disservice if I represented you."
Being facetious.
My take on it is that the ms. is so wonderful that the agent feels he/she wouldn't be good enough for the client.
Sorry if this is a question that's already been answered, but has anyone queried more than one agent at DM? I didn't see the "no is no for the agency" sentence, and so wanted to check with others. Thanks!
Yes, they do send it around that agency if they feel it might be a better fit for someone else. (My ex-agent used to be there.)
I queried Cameron McClure Feb. 9th, but still haven't heard anything, but they say in the sub. guidelines that they discard any queries that don't follow their guidelines perfectly! Well, I accidentally forgot to paste the first 5 pages of my ms, or the synopsis in my e-mail! I left them out entirely, and just sent the query! I'm wondering if the no response is b/c they simply deleted it, or if the no response = rejection? Their response time says 4 weeks on the website, and it's been 8!
Any ideas on what I should do? Write it off? Requery?
