I just found this listing on Duotrope. Anyone know anything about them? Has anyone ever dealt with them before?

Is it a recent listing? The magazine was founded years ago, but I haven't seen that magazine around for years. I think it has been considered MIA for a long while. It's possible they're trying to revive it -- in fact, I'd buy it if it came back. But keep in mind that they might no longer be active. :(

I submitted a few stories their way years ago, back before they basically disappeared.

I've seen signs that it's starting up again, but personally, I'm not willing to submit to them until I see a few new issues in print.

I had an e-mail from the editor, Randy Dannenfelser recently. He is planning to revive the mag if he gets enough subscriptions.
It was a great mag when it appeared.

Oh, I hope it can be revived. I guess I'll keep an eye on it, to see if they can get it going again. If they can, I'll send in. Thanks for the responses guys!

I'd love to see the magazine get going again, but they seem to be in some doubt themselves that this will happen. Here is a partial quote from their submission page:

" Since all acceptances are contingent upon resumption of publication of magazine, simultaneous submissions are welcome (So, spread the word to all readers and writers alike to help support the small press)."

They are selling subscriptions, but if there is anything on their site about when the first issue would be put out, I couldn't find it.

Just a note, the above link is definitely not safe for work.

Since JD revived this thread to point out that the above link is not something you want to click on at work I'll just add a word about the press itself (guessing they're deader than spam now that their website has been taken over by porn).

Watch out for this guy, he is the worst kind of small press operator. I sent him a subscription as a gesture of support and never heard back on any of my numerous queries as to the status of his magazine or for a return of my payment. That puts it on the level of a scam. If he or it should ever pop up again avoid them.

Shame that irresponsible and dishonorable people like this will make it just that much harder for other small presses to get off the ground by eroding trust from potential authors and subscribers. Where before I would gladly indicate my interest with an advanced subscription -- with the assumption that any decent person would return my money if things fell through -- now I'm more circumspect.

Gaah, I'll say! I've de-linked it, thanks.

Last cache for DSP was Jul '08, and there's no sign of it moving to a different domain. Looks like it's dead (again).
