Publishing my letter

I just heard back from my local daily newspaper, which has not only decided to print my letter to the editor, but is coming to take a photograph of me and my daughter. Cool.

I wish publishing fiction were as easy. If anyone has access to The Ottawa Citizen, my face will be smiling out at you tomorrow morning.

Thanks all for the responses. The photographer came to our house yesterday afternoon and we had a "photo session." My daughter's 7 and thought it was lots of fun.

The letter was in response to an article about school admission age and how being the youngest in a class was a disadvantage. My daughter's a Dec. baby and indistinguishable from her classmates as being so much younger. I took exception to the idea of parents competing to ensure their child wasn't the youngest. Geez, someone has to be youngest.

The letter will be in tomorrow's paper and daughter is terribly excited. She can't wait to clip it and take it to class with her. She's so cute.
