Just finished Preston and Child's The Wheel of Darkness. Fabulous!
Just started MJ Rose's The Reincarnationist. Very exciting so far, although there are a few things I feel her editor should have picked up on. Unvarying sentence structure kind of stuff. Other than that, it's a really good read that I'd recommend to anyone.

Not really loving this James Pattersonesque trend of a zillion chapters. Both the above books have upwards of 50 chapters and I find it makes me feel like I'm rushing.

I've almost finished Bill Bryson's Neither Here Nor There and King's Thinner. Yesterday, I started Rankin's The Toyminator and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I just finished Thousand Splendid Suns -- didn't grab me from page 1 like Kite Runner, but it's a good story told in a compelling way with no WTF moments. Oh, and I started it less than 24 hours ago. :)

Now it's The Man with the Golden Torc, by Simon R. Green. Lovelovelove his Nightside series, but so far haven't been able to finish anything else he's written. This one sounds cool. :)

I'm reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to my kids (7 & 9). This is my first time reading anything by C.S. Lewis.

Cheering you all on!
Finished Stardust. The novel was nothing like the movie.

Started The Devil Wears Prada, mostly 'cuz I wanted a break from fantasy & something that I figured I could read a moment here & a moment there & not have too complicated a plot. My mom gave it to me after she got it as a promo at Borders or B&N. I'm surprised by how much the first chapter made me compare my urban fantasy MC to the book's MC.

Pleasure reading

Outside of work-related and seminary-related reading....

I'm currently working my way through Chuck Norris' Justice Riders. It's not bad. A bit contrived. Okay, a lot contrived. But enjoyable.

I'm reading Barry Longyear's story in the latest Analog magazine. It's an SF murder mystery, a rather unusual thing, but I'm really enjoying it. From looking at http://analogsf.com this isn't the first such story with these two main characters. I'll have to find that issue, or heaven forbid, get a subscription to Analog, like I had so many, many years ago...

I'm still on Water for Elephants, it's an absolutely fantastic read. I'm about 70 pages from the finish and I can't wait to see how it ends.

Highly recommended.

I'm looking for something light to read next... It will depend on my mood when I finish this one.

The State of Marriage Equality.
I just finished Chainfire by Terry Goodkind. I am also a couple of years behind, but at least Phantom is out in paperback now. Not that I have anything against paying for hardbound, but they sure are hard on the back and the wrists, depending on whatever position is most comfortable. Had some serious WTF moments, but I'm seeing this thru to the end.

Now, I'm half-way thru The Joy Luck Club. First time. See, I told you I was behind. Fast read, love the way she puts simple words together to make magic.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss...re-reading....easily the best book I've read in YEARS!! I can't say enough good about this book. I wanted to cry when it was over because the next one doesn't come out for a year, though I'm willing to wait the year for it to be as good as this one was!

I'm about to start reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

I'm about to begin The Woods by Harlan Coben. Ooh, I've been waiting so long to get my hands on this one. HC's my favorite author.

My sister and my friend, Sue read The Woods. They liked it a lot.

I'm reading one of his other novels, Tell No One.
