A Big Little Life by Dean Koontz. It is a memoir about his time with his dog Trixie, and what she taught him about life. I have to say after reading this (and staying up all night last night to do it), I am completely in love with Dean Koontz again. If you have a dog, ever lost a dog, you must read this book. You will laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.

Reading The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. Great book about a writer of historical fiction who discovers that her novel is more fact than fiction. She creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts having waking dreams about James Stewart's try to reclaim his throne in 1708.
Very interesting and well written. Enjoying it very much.

The Summons by John Grisham. This is the kind of crap that made me stop reading him in the first place, but I'm gonna let it slide.

Shikasta-Doris Lessing; Passenger to Frankfurt-Agatha Christie.

Lessing is a bit demanding, while Christie is a bit dry, but seems very "British" in this book, as far as I can tell.

First time for both the books and authors.

I'm 3/4 through Zeke and Ned by Larry McMurty and Diana Osanna. Great book, so far.

I really enjoyed Zeke and Ned. I'm halfway through Amy Tan's Saving Fish from Drowning. Her writing style for this one is close to head-hopping but it makes sense from the narrator's point of view.

I'm reading two in tandem -- Infinite Jest (and enjoying it a lot), and Old Man's War, which I'm also enjoying a great deal.

Now that my new novel is out, I'll have time to read something new. I know how Dean Koontz loves dogs, so I need to pick up A Big Little Life.

If you are a dog person, and especially if you enjoy how he writes, you will love it. I laughed at so many parts. And cried like a baby at the end!

Just finished White Night by Jim Butcher.

Next on the list is Dead Zone by Stephen King.

Between the sneaky bookshelves of Barnes & Noble.
I just finished Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

Right now I am reading:
The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien
Rereading Beowulf (to analyze it)
Snow White and Rose Red by Patricia C. Wrede

And I am seriously considering Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
(The size is just a wee bit intimidating, and there are some
inappropriate scenes -- so I might just wait a few years)

Ayn Rand is dry reading and over-rated. Just my humble opinion. Better to read Anais Nin.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check this out.

The Girl Who Played With Fire. This one starts off at a much faster clip than The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hooray! My attention span just ain't what it used to be...
