I sent a children's manuscript in and after two days editor herself wrote a note and said she'd have to think about it for a "little bit". Is that good?
It is a very big house.

Sounds good; it wasn't a no. Just keep in mind that a "little bit" in the publishing world is often very different from a "little bit" in the real world. This may require some patience. If this publisher hasn't asked for an exclusive, keep submitting. Good luck!

It's only twelve days, which is really not that long in the publishing world. I'd at least wait two to four months before thinking about status querying.

Give the editor at least a couple of months.

Should I drink continuously for that long? :)

Good Luck

Desperately Newbie here. But I feel your pain ;) It's total pants not knowing ... and hoping ... and waiting ... and wondering. When I first started, (not that I've got very far yet!) I was stunned at how horrendously slow the process is. I come from an industry where everything is done at least six months in advance, and at the speed of light. But the very best of luck.
