Last night I caught the second half of St Elmo's Fire. Before that, on Friday I think it was, I watched For Your Consideration.
Sweet Home (J-horror). Too slapstick for me. If it had been a US movie in the 40s, it would've starred Abbott and Costello.
Today, we are going into the magical time machine back to 1989. This was created by Kurosawa Kiyoshi, the man who brought us "Kairo", "Retribution", and "The Loft". The version I saw, had an advertisement for the video game that came with the movie. Skipping that, we get to the actual movie itself. I think right off the bat we get a "Don't trust the locals" theme going on. It drags a bit before it starts to get interesting. I can kind of tell that this is Kurosawa's first time making a horror film. (He did a pink film before this one.) The old man's song seemed to come out of nowhere for me. The effects by today's standards seem pretty cheap. Not his best work, but Kurosawa got it right with "Kairo" and "Retribution".
The wall. And it sucked. Although my kids liked it.
That one almost kept me engaged, until people had to "run away from the cold."The Day After Tomorrow, because it was being shown on TV. I forgot that there were some good subplots in that movie. been a while since I saw it
To be fair, running is a good way to get warm...That one almost kept me engaged, until people had to "run away from the cold."
True Romance....not sure how to describe it without spoilers...sort of like "Very Bad Things." A bunch of people making very bad life decisions
