Exclamation Absolute Write Blogchain No. 9

Signup for the ninth chain is now starting! We haven't done one of these for a while. Just post your name and the link to your blog. I will establish a list of participants as we go along. We had 11 participants in No. 8 and have had up to 15 in the past.

The last post of Blogchain No. 8 was XThe NavigatorX

General guidelines of chains gone by:

    - First person in the chain finds the last post of the last chain and takes an element from that to base her blog post on so that the previous chain and this chain are connected. You'd also provide the permalink to that post in your post, and you would provide the link in your post to the next post to come after you.

    - Second and subsequent participants in the chain will take an element from the entry before theirs and encorporate it into their post. So for me to post an entry, I need to read yours and find something about your post. Maybe you wrote about cooking with avocadoes. I could mention guacomole and Mexican food. The next person could talk about spicy food. The next person about spicy cologne. The next about body odor. The next about smelly apartments they've lived in, and so on.

    - The last person in the chain takes an element from the post before theirs and from the first post to tie the chain together.

    - Put the AW Chain technorati tag into the body of your post. That code is...
    <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/awchain" rel="tag">awchain</a>
and you'll need to do it in html view.

    - When you're done your post, you provide a permalink to that particular entry in your post here in this thread. Because as you post to your blog, that particular entry will fall off the front page and we need to be able to find it easily.

    - Every participant posts a copy of the html code listing all the participants into their blog. It can be into your sidebar or into a blog entry. Then at the end, when we have all the permalinks, post it again with permalinks.

    - Comment on every post in the chain, with the exception of those you can't. Some people have blogs that don't allow those who don't have accounts at those blogsites to comment, ie LiveJournal

I'd like to try this, please, if I may. Is there a start date?

Also, really stoopid question exhibiting my total non-techiness - what is the difference between a regular link and a permalink and how do I identify such so that I may play in this delightful game?

    *curtsy*

I'll totally understand if this is a deal breaker as to whether or not I get to play.

You don't have any problems. Each of your blog posts have a permanent link. Mouse over the posting date at the end of your entry. The link for your last one is http://virginialeenc.blogspot.com/20...96427870172196

I figure we can start when there are around 10 or more blogs signed up. I'll work up some sample code for all the participants before we start.

    OK, I'll play.
Question, though. Are we just blogging, or are we using this to mutually write a piece of fiction? Hmm, maybe if I looked at the previous one, I could answer this question for myself. DOH.
OK, I'm back. I get it. Still in. If it's not too late.

I haven't heard from Williebe on which blog he wants to use, so I picked one for the moment. We can kick things off tomorrow, I'll send the email after work. We can still add a couple more in the short term. Thanks for participating.

    Hi Gang-

    Apologies for missing the question.

I'll use williebee.blogspot.com for the chain.

It's in the list at the end of the first post. I will try to get some code together for everyone in the morning. Corrected willibee's blog entry. All good.
