I don't usually listen to just songs - I listen to a lot of Peter Gabriel, particularly the 'Passion' and 'Ovo' cds while I write.
M83, Robbie Robertson, Nick Cave, Patti Smith. A little Springsteen sometimes, and some Motorhead to kick things up.

"Death to Birth" by Pagoda. I'm a little ashamed of listening to Pagoda, 'cause Michael Pitt is apparently a spoiled artsy douchebag, but music's music.

Ever since I was a little Kid - Bernhoft Live off of the 1:Man 2:Band album

An amazing solo concert. Take a Norwegian, teach him blues and soul, force him to sing in English and give in a entire stage with a replay pedal.

I have several playlists depending on where I am in the story.
Love scenes: Michael Bolton, Adele and Sixx AM usually suffice.

Most of the happy parts: Amy Winehouse, Adam Lambert, Rhianna, Doo-wop, anything lively with a good beat.

Sexy parts Nine inch nails Closer, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Dope, Alien Vampire, Genitortures and Marilyn Manson.

I'm sure I listen to many more bands while writing, these are the ones that popped up.
