Draw your own conclusions (interesting reading if nothing else. Truth really is stranger than fiction. No one would buy this novel.)

The founder's side of the story./

The "No Gossip Policy"

Management in the news.(Keep in mind that Winepress proceeds support the Sound Doctrine church and its staff.)

Mainstream media account of story.

It's nice that they posted a "a specific and public rebuttal," but it would have been even nicer to have posted it as something other than a password-protected PDF.

Huh, the links opened right up for me, and the PDF rebuttal statement opened with no password. Very odd, Jim.
Very bizarre story, like a movie on the Lifetime network.

EDIT: In the company's rebuttal statement it says, "As Athena was the sole proprietor, this was also her personal debt."

If it is a corporation, why would it be a personal debt? Isn't that one of the benefits of incorporating? That people can't go after the person individually only the corporation?

"WinePress Publishing, a Christian self-publishing company, has closed its doors, according to an announcement yesterday on the company’s Web site. The house had been plagued in recent years with accusations of fraud, complaints from authors and former employees, and financial problems. WinePress itself had filed a number of lawsuits against its critics and unhappy authors."
