Royal Fireworks Press / Trillium Press / Silk Label Books

I have a personal friend (a multi-pubbed author) who had a terrible experience with Royal Fireworks. I'd stay away from them for sure.

I see RFP received "Two-Thumbs Down" on AWWC in 2007. However, I don't see any warnings re: RFP on P&E, and I haven't noted any threads regarding specifics here on AWWC. Can anyone update me with specifics concerning RFP? Thank you

There is a short thread on them here. I'm sure a mod will be along to merge shortly.

They claim authors' copyrights (as opposed to just asking for a grant of rights), and Writer Beware has received serious complaints about non-payment of royalties.

I submitted to them about a month ago relying on P&E. I've since started educating myself on AWWC's Beware thread, and so my post.

Since the original demerits are about six years old, are there more recent issues, or has RFP cleaned up their act as far as anyone knows?

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Unless they have changed ownership or otherwise completely changed direction, I would assume nothing has changed.
