    Question Anomalos Publishing

Has anybody here at the Water Cooler heard of or dealt with Anomalos Publishing? http://www.anomalospublishing.com/

    Thanks,

This question might belong in the "Bewares and Background Check" thread, but a quick perusal of the website comes up with this:

The way we "share the risk" is by asking the author to purchase a pre-determined number of books for his/her own distribution at a discount off the retail price. The discounted price we offer, while substantially less than the retail price of the book, is more than just the cost of printing. It helps to cover all of the other costs including editing, cover design, pre-press typesetting, STL catalogue placement, and overhead. The more books the author orders, the bigger the discount he/she receives. In this partnership arrangement, we ask the author to order a minimum of 1000 copies or more at the time of the original printing to help defray the costs of publishing the book.

It's vanity publishing by a different name.

I went to thier web sight and checked it out. Not good. They clam to be a real publishing company, even attacks pod companies, but they are one too. They lie. What else are they no telling the truth about?

Writer Beware has blogged about Anomalos, which requires authors to buy at least 1,000 copies of their own books.

How much does anyone want to bet that the only books ever printed are the thousand copies the author buys?

    Regards,
    Scott

Site hasn't been updated since '10, and the latest book on Amazon is from '12. Anyone have recent contact with them?
