Has anyone had any experiences with Lippincott Massie McQuilkin (LMQ Lit.)? I know their absolutely legit, but I was just wondering if anyone has had any interaction with them past the query stage. (I apologize if there's already a thread on this; if so, I couldn't find it).

Did you submit to them Pisarz?

I've just been checking out their website and it looks as if they're selling to some big pulishing houses.

Anyone else have information, or dealt with them?

I think it's extremely interesting that they represent graphic novels. That really caught my attention.

Carmy, I had a request for a partial from one of their agents and submitted it via email. I got a form rejection within two weeks. Both the request and the rejection came from an assistant. I didn't have any personal contact with the agent, but the assistant was polite and professional.

Thanks Pizars. I might try them with a query, especially as they accept emails. Nothing to lose.

Response from Rob

I had queried Rob McQuilkin for something else in the past, so he was one of the first agents I queried by email in August. He responded four days later, also by email with a nice note: "The project sounds both poignant and useful. Unfortunately, I find myself full up right now, and so not in a position to take on anything new."

If anyone is wondering what happened to the rest of the posts in this thread, I've moved them to their own thread, entitled Agents for Graphic Novels, because I thought they'd be more useful there; I've also copied that thread to Ask the Agent, so it'll get more visibility.

I'm glad you said that, because I was scared I'd done broke the thread.

Thanks Victoria. The thread was moving away from the original topic.

I queried them via email a while back. The assistant requested a partial and emailed me a form rejection a couple weeks later.

I'd be happy to hear any updates about this agency. I just got a request for a full from Rachel Vogel about a month after querying Mr. McQuilkin by email.

Question: who would be the best person to query for a YA urban fantasy? At most they only mention that a few of the agents rep commercial fiction.

Roly -

I just checked out their website. Jason Anthony reps YA and commercial fiction, so that would be my guess.

Jason Anthony contacted me after he read an excerpt from my book––it was available on Amazon because I made the semifinals of the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. We had a conversation on the phone about two months ago and he requested the full manuscript, which I sent to him. I haven't gotten a response yet. Anyone have an idea how long it takes for him to respond to full manuscripts? Thanks! :)

I nudged him today about a partial I sent over a month ago. He messaged me back this afternoon to let me know that he hadn't gotten to it yet and he's "dreadfully behind" and will get back to me shortly. :)

Good luck!
