broken
clock is right twice
unlike my lazy cat.
eats, watches tv, sleeps, and purrs:
meow

Enough—
The dry season
ended. After praying
for clouds and rain all summer long,
they’re now here... be careful what you.
wish for.

the chance
has gone. muscles
worn. lying on bed, day
seems year. friends in graves but some lost
to pride.

Courage
to winter here
wanes as the snow deepens.
Two days’ worth on my path waits for
Monday.

Hiking
brings me back here.
This stand of old growth oaks
greets their wandering friend with arms
outstretched.

the cat's limbs are
'bout to fall down the cliff
at last, she delivers the kits
climbs up

moon replaces the sun
blanket of mist covers the hills

like quilt
breeze hugged the lake.
fishes jiggled their fins.
shining scales made sparkles. the lips
gave pouts.

Gave pouts
Behind blonde curls
The girl who wants it all
A longing she'll never outgrow
Her crutch.

Rock, sand,
fragmented shell -
the shore gleams black, birdless,
as sharp suits debate the cost of
silence

(PS. Hi guys! Missed you all)

Silence
inhabits the
O.T. as the doc
closes the cut. Staff
celebrates the success. Patient
survives.

When my eldest daughter was very small she would often come in from the garden with a large bundle of spring crocuses, tulips, or daffodils; all of which are single bloomers. For whatever reason, I could never get her to pick dandelions in summer.

Survives
the winter snow.
Endures frosty spring nights—
to be snatched in full bloom by my
daughter.

I look
out on the lake.
Spring brings anxious men in
boats— winter’s serene quiet now
broken.
