Does anybody know anything about Absolute Press -- "one of the UK's leading independent publishers"?

Their website states: "No unsolicited MSS."

Does this mean that they do not acccept non-fiction book proposals?

I don't know anything specific about Absolute Press, but when a publisher says "No unsolicited MSS" that usually means "Send us a query or proposal first, and if we're interested we'll ask you to send the MS."

Before sending them a non-fiction proposal, though, make sure they do non-fiction in your area.

Yep, they have a line of books that my book would fit (at least, I think so) -- and a book published on a somewhat-similar-but-naturally(!)-inferior topic.

Still, I would like to know something more about them before sending them my proposal -- so -- anybody feel like chiming in?

All I know is that they're "independent," UK publishers who picked a good name for themselves (Absolute Write ... er, no, I mean: Absolute Press).

It looks like they do books on food and drink only. Seems to be non-fiction to me.

2) Is their production quality what you'd want for your book?

If yes, then I'd say they're worth pursuing.
