Ambassador Books, Inc. / Paulist Press

I found these folks in Writers Market but nowhere else. I did an AW search and got nothing. Is this a POD or Vanity? Ambassador Books, Inc., Worcester, MA

It makes no mention of subsidy or author payment and doesn't SOUND like a vanity. They want Christian oriented books.

A Google search on Ambassador Books, Inc., Worcester, MA produces some interesting links.

Not sure what it all signifies, though. According to the Zoom link, they've got revenues of $13.9 million, but the Government Grants page says they got a grant for $50K in 2004. You could check if some of their books are actually in stock at Amazon or just "available".

Roger, I dunno what that all means either...but it looks to me like a great basis for some kind of conspiracy novel.

Pssst. Ambassador Books is really a front for the Elbonian* Liberation Organization. The ELO also has a propaganda arm that started as a band in the 70s, but...

Several of their books are at Amazon and B&N. . .but $14 mill? Does this mean they might function like a traditional publisher and pay advances and royalties?

I checked the first three titles that came up on Amazon.com for this publisher. They are stated as being "In Stock." The price points on the books don't look like what I usually see for POD.

That, at least, is a promising sign. Now the question is are any of them stocked at brick and mortar B&N?

At the religious bookstore where I work, this is one of the major suppliers of religious books and textbooks for general spirituality book readers and a local seminary. They are a very legitimate operation, for us, and we move a fair shake of their units. Religious authors would be advised to pursue.
