personalized rejection on my full today from Jen L. with invitation to revise and resubmit down the road.

i have to say she writes a nice letter. it started with the rejection right off the top, so no guessing. then it included everything she liked, and she was very specific, which gave me a real confidence boost. finally, she explained what didn't work for her and again, she was very specific, so i know exactly what i would need to change to resubmit.

her rejection actually made me feel good about myself and my writing. that's a pretty impressive letter! i would absolutely query her again. :)

Those are the best kind of rejections, EJ! Good luck--you are so close!

I hope this means she'll be reading my ms soon, since I know I sent it slightly before EJ. JennL did say I was coming up "in the queue."

If anyone is interested, there's a query contest going on here by an AWer: http://cornelldeville.blogspot.com/

An Andrea Brown agent is judging the contest and the prizes are a full and two partials.

He's only taking the first 50 queries (and it was at 31 last I checked, and I've entered since...), so hurry up if you want to enter.

Oh, shoot - I resent the query to the contest once because I forgot to include my contact info, and then I realized that I forgot to put the title and genre at the top, though I included it in the query itself. I don't want to flood this guy's inbox by sending it again. This is what happens when someone talks to you while you're writing an e-mail!

I'd just send another e-mail. Last time he screwed up someone's genre and I know she e-mailed him to tell him.

He's up to 35 now

I e-mailed him again, poor guy. Apparently I'm entry 36. We'll just have to see what happens!

Moost, don't worry about that. The last contest's judge was Chris Richman, and I had already queried him. When I didn't win, I assumed it'd be a rejection. Actually when he answered my query, he requested and said that he had been wishing there were some pages included in the contest because he needed to see them for mine, and now that he had, he was requesting a full.

New York. If you see me anywhere else I'm lost.

Wow! That's awesome. This is the first agent-judged contest I've entered. Crossing my fingers I got through.

Everyone's queries look fabulous. I'll leave some comments when I have time!

I assume nothing'll come of this for me since I've already been rejected by Mary Kole, but hey, I got a full request once, I have to get lucky again sometime.

After 7 months, Jen Rofe got back to me with a rejection on my full (still less time than it took her to read my query though, lol ;))

Hi Sage -

You said:

(still less time than it took her to read my query though,

How long did it take her to read your query? I queried her on 3/13, and I've already written her off.

Sorry Sage :(

ILS, I think they have a 4 to 8 weeks no-response = no policy in terms of queries
