I was talking with the owner of an online editing/proofreading service, and she mentioned that this is a great place to meet people and build a portfolio. I'm trying to get into the editing/proofing business and need some experience doing it before i can start making money!!!
IF you need editing/proofing, I highly recommend victoryediting.com, unless, of course, you want to help me get some free experience
I submitted a manuscript to a publisher, along with 4500 other writers I was checking the publisher's website and someone commented about this forum... and here I am!
My girlfriend uses this site. It was either Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, but she had tried to stay up late to post as soon as midnight came. Except she fell asleep, so I submitted her messages for her. I took a look at the site, thought it would be interested, then decided to join! I didn't tell my girlfriend about it, and she was quite surprised when she saw my account here. :3

Google. I was procrastinating when I should've been writing and searched 'Beta Readers' - this was one of the first sites that came up. I had a look around and liked the community so I joined
every time i did a google search trying to find out whether a publisher was worth submitting to, a thread from this forum came up with reviews of the publisher. after a dozen separate times of this happening, i decided to join.
