You can stop asking after the first time that you ask and I say no.

Asking twice is too much. Three times is way too much. Four times and 5 million dollars?

Are you out of your mind?

You should not have asked the first time.

Did you really think money was the ticket?

What is wrong with some people?

We live in very bizarre times. It makes me feel like life is imitating art. You can't make this stuff up.

I mean, think about this. She said no.

And he thought, "I know. I'll ask again, and offer her money."

Dude, Yuck, you're sick, and double yuck.

No. No means no.

We are people. We are not the means for you to ... feel good and perpetuate yourself.

Uh, yeah.

It's trent franks.

(Don't know rules on derailing my own thread, but hey there Australia! My mom grew up in (I think) Melbourne? (Goodyear tires), ~1940.

A key detail, which Franks admitted in his letter of resignation, was that he repeatedly asked the staff members (two women came forward) if he could impregnate them in a way that did not result in any discarded embryos. So there's that, too.

Which is about the most lawyerly way to ask for unprotected sex I've heard.
Plus, further in the story, where he's apparently trying to imply that he was only 'interested in discussing the surrogacy option' because he and his wife had twins that way. I wonder if that poor woman knew he was planning on enlarging the family?

When this story first broke, someone told me "It's not harassment to talk about surrogate parenthood. Possibly distasteful, but not harassment."

I said "If he simply discussed the topic, no. But if he asked, or pressured, his employees to bear his child, yes it is. And if he framed it as 'will you let me impregnate you the way God intended,' it's even worse."

Bingo. That's exactly what happened.

Ew. I can't say I'm surprised someone would do this, though, the sense of entitlement and notion of ownership of employees (especially female ones) being what they are.

Women's primary purpose is to serve as incubators for men's issue, after all (I hope I don't have to post the sarcasm emojii here).
