But, then, what did Flynn lie to the FBI about?
Specifically, that he never discussed easing sanctions on Russia with Russian ambassador Kislyak when that's exactly what he did. This was while Obama was still President and directing foreign policy. Technically illegal, but no one would ever be charged with that.

But lying to the FBI can get you in real trouble no matter what you're lying about. It's a very narrow charge, which makes the plea deal a good one for him -- there could have been other things.

But what's more interesting is all the stuff Mike Flynn has been involved in re Russia, and his closeness to Trump, the campaign, and the transition team. There was something very strange going on with him, and when it comes out it will be interesting to see who else might have been involved.

I feel if the words 'treachery' and 'Traitor' become consistently attached to Trump he will be impeached (in reality, he,ll resign due to 'ill health')

But Pence aint much fun, so, hopefully he'll be implicated.

However, good though that will be, the question is 'Who came up with the Trumpcare and New Tax policies? Trump? lol, nope. Pence? nope.

Still, I suppose the embarrassment gone will be something.

I have no faith that it will make any difference.
Happiness, is just a word to me
And it might have meant a thing or two
    If I'd known the difference.

Yep, mine's gone. I don't see how we pull out of this nosedive with our democracy intact. Every instance of Congress and the president thumbing their noses at our political norms is a roadmap, and every time they get away with it, it's a route that will be followed again.

I just try to think of Bad Greedy King John, his treasure all lost in the Fens, spending his last days shivering with pneumonia. Evil very seldom sustains itself. I don't know what we'll inherit when all this is over, but it will be over.

    Trump doesn't like losers.

His comments this morning were that Flynn was Obama's guy, and Trump fired him for lying to Pence and the FBI. And of course he had to protest too much: "No collusion, no collusion, no collusion."

What sickens and disenheartens me more than the power players doing this is the many, many voters cheering them on. I never really undestood how many Americans would sell their own country into despotism just to see a few pet hatreds and ideals validated. They never really wanted a democracy or the responsibilities of being educated and aware voters.

Also, there is the indictment of Manafort which we will have to wait for the trial. So Flynn could stand as a significant witness against Manafort - someone who was aiding the campaign prior to the election. Flynn is also reported to have received his instructions from Kushner. So the next link up the chain is Kushner.

I think this is a state of affairs that has been indoctrinated and manipulated, more than a result of pure apathy. Of course there will always be a percentage of apathetic people, but measures could have been taken in the last 200 years to make voting mandatory, for example. Whether it's corporate interests (who want the grip on the reins of state), extreme political party machinations via gerrymandering, etc, failures of basic education in government and critical thought, or any number of other transgressions committed by those who've abused our fragile system of governance, the resulting apathy and indifference are an intended consequence.

In the US, the dollar is the One King, and the surest way to keep it that way is to keep the citizens entertained and oblivious while our futures (and presents) are stolen clean away in broad daylight.

Wait. Trump KNEW Flynn was lying to the FBI when he asked Comey to ease off?

Re the 'lost faith' comments - that's exactly when authoritarians want - same a Putin wants the world to believe there's no difference 'tween his approach. and a democratic approach.

Waaaaaay too early to lose the faith yet folks. Way too early.

If you look at this assertion in the bigger scheme of 45's mental disorder you'll note it fits the pattern: This is what Trump has made up in his mind that happened, the imaginary scenario exonerates 45 and it need not have any grounding in reality.

Since Trump became president, pretty much everyday when I wake up, I open up the BBC app to find a story about Trump that is nearly always stupid and more often than not cruel, yet incredibly fun from to read about this side of the pond. The GOP, all of them.

When Trump wrote, «Comey better not have a tape of our conversation», I thought, how incredibly stupid can you get.

Yeah, you can get stupider, it seems. For fun’s sake, please let this go somewhere good.

Trump now indicates that he knew that Flynn lied to the FBI before he fired him. Which generates a whole new tribe of questions: How did he know that? When did he know that? Why did he not make that clear at the time? He was warned repeatedly about Flynn before appointing him to be National Security Adviser (a really really REALLY important post), so why did he appoint him?

Twitter may ultimately be our friend in all these matters, given 45s utter inability to control his postings on it.

Supposedly, Trump's team is claiming that particular tweet was written by Trump's lawyer.

Which actually makes it worse, I think.

The Trumposhpere on Twitter last night was already out there loudly calling this #FAKENEWS on the premise that it had never been reported on before and "if it were true we would certainly have heard about it before this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111!!!!!!1 1"
