There always was a fifth horseman; he didn't ride with the four—he came after on a white horse.
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.
His eyes were as flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself.
And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of God." Revelation 19
ETA: Just out of curiosity, is this really for research for your WIP?

Terry Pratchett did this in the Discworld novel Thief of Time. The fifth Horseman was Chaos. He was the one who left the group before they got famous. He retired and became a milkman.

There are actually 8 Horsemen and Horsewomen of the Apocalypse: Pestilence, War, Famine, Death, Ignorance, Catastrophe, Chaos and Hope.
If you had to pair each of them with another one, who would you put together? I'm very curious to hear other point of views.
