As someone who spent more Thanksgivings than I can count (which I showed up to without complaint and just sat with a plate of safe side dishes without saying anything btw) explaining that no, still don't eat turkey, yes, turkey counts as meat, yes, it matters if there's meat in the x, y, z, no, I don't want to 'just try' the meat-based whatever....

about half of you can bite me! :e2moon:

BTW, I hate Thanksgiving. Big dead bird holiday.

Want some turkey, cornflake? :p

I have other plans.
Why is she here?
I can't eat that.
Can't drink, on meds.
Please call the doctor.

Brillig in the slithy toves...
Um... who's the father?

Replace turkey with "ham and roast," and the words "You like pork, right? Of course you do, everyone likes pork." despite having been told multiple times, including every holiday, that" "NO, I do not eat mammals, Yes I'm aware that you work on a beef farm, no that doesn't make a cow stop being a cow. No, it doesn't mean I'll eat the potatoes cooked in the same pot. Yes, I brought my own food. No, I'm not insulting your cooking." etc. and you've got every holiday with my extended family.

In God I dwell, especially in Eugene OR
Sat Nam! (Literally "Truth Name"--a Sikh greeting)

The oven's on fire! [been there, yelled something like that]

[BTW, I love the holiday...as long as I spend it with other vegetarians.]

Blessings,

Siri Kirpal

We welcome vegetarians, as long as they don't mind us eating our turkey. My youngest niece went through several years where all she ate at the feast was mashed potatoes (non dairy) and pumpkin pie (no whipped cream). As long as her parents didn't mind, neither did I.
