    Happy Songs

Any genre, what songs make you feel good? Sometimes I'm unable to get there, like, what in the hell are they so happy about? But when it's within me, some music can put me right there. How 'bout you?

Oh no Maze! I LOVE that one! Sang it at camp!! Love, love, love!

can't believe I didn't post THESE favorites -- > of course these are my OTHER favs, pretty much anything at all by them, just all of it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBcFjNUzFJ0

and this. I have played this whenever I was down about something or other, just love this cut. I've heard some nice acoustic versions but this is the original and can't beat it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oYzxkfzJZ0 really love the riff at 2:04

and this, yes, acoustic and one of the finest players (right up there with Jorma and Stephen Stills) don't love everything he did solo or with his better known bands, but this has been on hot rotation in my house for a zillion years. Played plenty on the air as well, Wished I could play like this!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYL0ScCuQps

Really enjoy thinking of my favorite happy songs!! And so cool to find new ones!!

oh wow, THAT takes me back! I remember that on the radio--loved! Totally blasted that and sang along! I remember stacking hay to that song!!!! That was back there with Seasons in the sun and Rock on!

For acoustic guitar, hell, for any guitar, this is one of the greats, just amazing. This one I can play (but not like him!!) and THIS version is my absolute favorite! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW6Nk8fgd5k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3oTTqoFP0c < ---- kind of fun (did a dance routine to it, just fun and makes me smile to hear it!)

Didn't love everything this guy did, but sure loved this one! (it's a great cha cha, too!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roynMO3oCks

and this, yes, there was a really nice remake but always partial to the original! (also a great cha) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdBvTvxHy7E

I bet there's more...love love love listening! Thank you again!

Played a hole in this --- > (and probably will again!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPbZV9gqG1U (I can think of about fifty of his that make me feel good!!)

This lovely cut really picks me up every time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jIsMBsrFQQ

And what's this considered, ska? Like it because it makes me want to dance!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bM0wVjU2-k

and this gem (not well known and it was a terrific soundtrack) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17u9...0BCF52E2D8D67D

and t his really is uplifting --- > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSa6i91_o-o (nope, the acoustic just doesn't get it)

So many great songs, Bombergirl, thank you!

You know, I'd never heard that one by LaBelle. Speaking of Johnny Rivers, I knew this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le3WNCGRcas

This one by George Harrison's a real up for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiH9edd25Bc

Oh wow! I had no idea Johnny Rivers did that! I loved him!! And I love this version! And George...had such a crush on him! Had his pic by my bed and LOVE that cut! The dancers are cool too--learned a neat new dance move watching--but yes, really uplifting! wish he'd been around so much longer! Sure brings back a ton of memories and THANK YOU for that!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w-OADkLsT8 --> kind of a sweet cut, reminds m e of what's important! young artists, sweet harmonies

This woman, just awesome and why more people don't know how Perfect she is...well, just LOVE her, both solo and of course with her far better known band! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEQOY00eeGw

And Jimmeh!! for those "i gotta escape to somewhere else" moments!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipx_reb1Kfc

and speaking of Jimmys ---> love this nice little groove, more R & B than island. Not a massive fan of JC but what I do like, I really like. And this is one of those!!

FRANK!!! Never heard that one (seen the face of a fat man having dinner!") that's awesome!!! totally putting that on my "cool" list!!!!! Still love that Ram song!!

Not sure what made me think of it (I am NOT a fan of this guy, can't think of a single thing OTHER than this he did that I liked!) but I do love this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArUSOn84bkA

I'd for sure toss up a zillion things by Joni, but she for sure isn't what i'd call, "happy music!" Same for Ryan Adams who I also love

loved this one too (spent many evenings dancing to it, l oads of requests!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrqGnA7xgCg

and really, how to pick one from these guys? just soooooo many. A zillion road trip tapes, bootlegs, memories of many nights, but I guess I d probably pick this one as my favorite pick me up from them, sure never get tired of it!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT8zLTaKxeE

And a pair of rockers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy8gHfGIS_A love this one, brings back memories from my misspent youth of speeding down the highway at 2 something in the am, probably up to no good this song blasting...

and this one...a fantastic album (RIP Stevie!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5QL7tUf_Y8 but this cut always makes me smile, PLENTY of memories of dancing around the studio to this one!

I got shitloads of requests for this one (had to bleep out the "shit") and yep, it's "dirty" (don't think this version is but there is one that is!) but it is a terrific west coast swing and it definitely fills up a dance floor!! But if more "graphic" songs aren't your thing, don't waste time with this one!

And really, I could put up a zillion by this guy, just so, so many (RIP!) but this one is fun (and makes me feel good!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Px4jY1TVc

Just s o so so much wonderful music out there!!!

A lot of great songs, Bombergirl, thanks for keeping this thread alive. I, for one, can use the daily boost. Am I the only one who finds weekends even more exhausting than weekdays? Could be that I party too hard. Nah, perish the thought.

Well here you go then, for Monday! I had such a crush on him (the cover of Quah!) actually loved his solo work better than the band(s) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo1aft5wX6o

so,..here's a few more from him because...well, love him! (particularly this one!!) Just love that riff!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMJifxqf-Vc

and of course this one --- > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkRmwh0pNzs

If two totally top-of-their-game finger picking masters makes you happy, well, there's THIS one -- > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugq13M21Bxw

Great stuff, BG, thanks. Here's one, it's a sad, sad story, but the music is up! Bobby Darin's story is a sad one, and he knew it to be so, but he embraced life regardless, for the time that he had. Big, Big, Big! hearted Bobby.

OMG, Darin had such a voice! He is sooooo smooth Really sad he died so young! What a master with a song!

Well, how about this one! How can anyone listen to this and not feel better?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qq2AV7Wx5w Really anything he did. His story is sad too but the music!!

this is also one that always picks me up -
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae0nwSv6cTU

    and, very different groove..
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okV7AHNP7a4
(under rated band, loads of fun, neat little groove- I want to wake you from your dream, I want to find out who you're singing to in your sleep, I want to find out what it means...)

and smooth jazz (some people hate this but I like some of his stuff--this one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jgm...YlxirQm-KKLkfL

    and this -
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWKlay7HyKc
    - kind of fun (I'm not afraid of darkness anymore, cuz I get high under water...)

Of course for serious introspection, you gotta put on Keith Jarrett's Koln concert. Spectacular (I know he didn't like it, but it has been on hot rotation for years--since college--in my house!!)

Lots of windshield time today so plenty of time to think of more happy songs!! Do you know Archie Roach? Lots of people love this as a wedding song...Love in the morning (not graphic at all but maybe the concept is a little...blunt for some weddings!) Anyway, love this one, (also a great cha cha/triple if one is inclined!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM2amftre54

And here I haven't 'even posted the Oyster Band! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGIivd4qN20 you probably know them, this is one of their cuts I always turn up the volume on.

And THIS, wow. Posting the album version but the live ones are terrific too! Van Morrison! Full Force Gale!! I played this a ton on the air, almost blew out the speakers on it. Sure, Tupelo Honey is awesome, and Have I told you lately, but for some reason, just love this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PGndxMdWOs

and another one with so much I love (and makes me happy!) This whole album is fantastic (solsbury hill!) but I think this is my favorite! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDsr54YBmdk
