Written 70 pages. The novel is about the rise of a wedding band named Avalon Landing. (The drummer is a fan of the film Finding Forrester.)

I made a list of possible band names before starting, some for the band’s competition: Light Years, Amethyst, The P45s, The Scrumpy Jacks. I googled to see if any of them were being used by a real band. A surprising number are, albeit in other countries. As of a few weeks ago, Avalon Landing is now one of them.

I know you can’t copyright a band name, which is not to be confused with a trademark.

Is it permissible to still use the band name, or will it need changing?

Since they're a real, current band, it might be less confusing to people if you used a different name.

You might have one of your characters mention in passing that he or she has heard of another band using the same name. It's a common enough occurrence. Then just go on.
