I sent a sample to an editor who said my style was unconventional and my lack of quotation or speech marks and some bad grammar was too much. That they didn't even know where to begin and neither would any other editor. They ended the email with saying that if I wanted to be a writer I needed to write like everyone else in the world. It was hard to hear. In their defense I guess they only do simple copy editing, which I didn't realize.

I took the advice and added quotation marks to the whole book, which took a while. Then submitted to another Editor, and got a response! This Editor has great reviews and also writes. I got a sample edit that said my novel was promising with some content feedback. I was very happy with it. It made me consider questions about how the information I'm presenting comes across.

I feel this will improve my book drastically, by allowing me to revise how ideas are presented.

Anyways just thought I'd share my experience.
