Buzzfeed has somehow come across some pretty damning email correspondence relating to everyone's favorite "edgy" fascist, Milo Yiannopoulos. Surprisingly, this not only makes Breitbart look bad (they are clearly in bed with Milo and the white supremacists), but a number of pedigreed left-wing journalists have apparently been working with him under the table. This includes giving him suggestions to "mock this fat feminist" (referring to Lindy West) and gossiping about whether Zoe Quinn was transsexual.

Kind of reminds me of the scene in "Berlin Diaries" in Vienna when the Anschluss is announced, and an Austrian journalist who had been assumed to be anti-Nazi pulls out a swastika pin, affixing it to his lapel with a smirk in front of his horrified colleagues.

A lot of this goes back years. Take for example, David Auerbach, who made a giant issue when he got called a GamerGater, only to have been revealed as corresponding with Milo by Buzzfeed. Or Vivek Wadhwa who really wanted to be the guy who spoke for women in tech but someone who a bunch of feminists in tech called creepy and made it clear that he did not speak for them.

For a lot of folks in tech who have been weathering GamerGate, none of this is a surprise, just a confirmation of what they'd already figured had to be true.

This one's out, anyway...
Mitchell Sunderland, who at the time he sent emails to Yiannopoulos was managing editor of Broadly, was spotted departing Vice’s offices with a box of his belongings. .)

ETA:
This suggests that even powerful men who work within liberal circles may have felt inwardly threatened by feminism, or powerful women, or both. Evidently, they felt some solidarity with Yiannopoulos that allowed them to confide in him
Ugh.

Ah, male journalists using the bro network to target prominent women, something those prominent women have been pointing out for ages. Who would have thought it?

ETA: But the Buzzfeed article is about much, much more than that. It's a long article, but worth reading.

The Buzzfeed article is a must-read. And this from The Guardian
A blond youth on a small stage sings America the Beautiful with camp stylings for an audience whose neo-Nazi members give him enthusiastic Hitler salutes: the grotty little cabaret turn captured on video could have come straight from Cabaret, the musical about Berlin in the last days of the Weimar Republic. But this video was filmed last year, in Dallas, Texas, and the singer was an editor for Breitbart News, one of the most energetic supporters of Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency.
