Long story short. I've been writing for kind of for leisure for years, and I've decided this one to take it more seriously and finally complete my story. I like sci-fi and fantasy, and it shows in my work.

Welcome to AW, Vicent!

I like SF&F too. What kind of story, word-count-wise, are you aiming for? Short story? Novelette? Novel? Might be you haven't thought about it, which is fine too.

Good luck!

I've actually thought in it. Full blown novel series. About 5 to 7 novels of roughly 80000-100000 words (give or take, around 300 pages per book). IMO, if I do less I will have to make things too cramped and rushed, sacrificing detail. If I do more, well, it may drag things out too much. If something's "short" it's better. Anyways, this is subject to change, because I only fully outlined the first three.

Sounds great! I like to plan things ahead as well, although I'm always prepared for plot-lines to shape themselves in unexpected ways. It's part of the fun :)

So I've got one question. I wanted to take a look at SYW but... it says I require a password yet it doesn't accept the one I have. Do I get a password once I reach 50 or something like that? Going to look around the stickies and FAQs, but just in case it's kind of a one-off.

The password is vista

You can reply to any threads there - critting for other people is wonderfully helpful all round - and you can start your own thread when you have 50 substantive posts anywhere on AW. So you're half-way there anyway (but don't rush. People get their hearts broken when they post for critique in SYW before they really understand critique and what's involved.)

ETA: Oh - Welcome to AW! :Sun:

That forum is password protected to ensure the safety of the works shared. However, it is open for all to view, regardless of post-count (the limitation is for posting).

When you scroll down to SYW, the password is written in the description below the title. I'm not sure I'm allowed to share it here, but it's clearly stated there.

EDIT: I see mccardey beat me to it. :)

Not where you last saw me.
Hi, Vicent. Welcome to AW.

Another yes to what mccardey wrote. It's always a good idea to get your feet wet in SYW by reading the crits and offering your own insight well before putting your own work up for crit.
