Here we are, teetering on the brink of October! Time to cheer (or 'fess up) about your progress in September.

Since I was on vacation this week, I got very little done besides reading (finished Stephen King's Dr. Sleep). Although I had some good ideas about scenes for my current WIP, I didn't actually write anything. I'm not going to beat myself up about it, though. I'm pretty pleased that I made all my other goals, and submitted a short story to an anthology as well. Waiting to hear back; I'm certain it'll be a rejection because the story just barely fits into their theme, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Back to NYC on Monday for the final three months of my show's run, and trying to have a good attitude about that.

1. Explore NYC with at least two more jaunts to places I've never been - 2 of 2 DONE
2. Read five books - 5 of 5 DONE
3. Get at least 10k words written on rough draft of Book #5 - currently 3,866
4. Create more graphics for upcoming social media push for Book #2 - 15 of 15 DONE
5. Nail down promo dates for Book #2 (cover reveal, book trailer, firm release date) with publisher DONE
6. Find a new NYC sublet (I have to give up my current place by mid-October) DONE

See you in the October thread!

The flu felled me so I didn't get as much done as I wanted:

1. Write first draft of a 4,000 word short story - zip.
2. Write two chapters of sci-fi novel - 1 complete
3. Read 4 books - complete
4. Write 1 blog post per week for a total of 4. - complete

I will have to focus on the short story next month.

Not much change for me. I finished Power Play (finishing the trilogy) and so completed my book goals. I did end up getting a story editing (cutting about a third of the word count, oh my). Game kept getting put back because people were busy and I can't prepare too far ahead until I know what the players are doing, but I did what I could.

Overall, it looks like a pretty bad month, but given how I was feeling, I'm pretty happy with things. And now I am not only healthier, but completely refreshed to go into October!

1. Read five books. 5/5
2. Edit three chapters.
3. Game planning. Yes.
4. Edited short story.

A few frustrating misses, but overall I'm happy with what I achieved this month.

Final results:

1. Read 4 books (at least one must be nonfiction). Done: 2 / 4.
2. Write 12,000 words: Done: 3,456 / 12,000
3. Write 2 poems per week. Done: 12 / 10.
4. Stay current with all my study-related tasks. Finished the month with all my lists clear, so I guess done.
5. Post at least 4 things on my blog. Done: 0 / 4.

That was... mixed, I guess. I'm keeping my head above water with study and I'm doing sort of not too badly with the poetry, although my first assessment came back with "you don't use florid enough language" as a criticism. Writing for becoming an author reasons was pretty much a non-starter, though. I wrote that 3400 words, then realised I was basically just adding another layer of mess to an existing, very messy project, gave up, and couldn't seem to get started on anything else. I have a new plan for October, which is hopefully going to be a bit more successful in getting me writing.

You guys!!! I'm almost, ALMOST on par for my goal of hours leading up to NaNo! Like, one hour short 'almost' almost. D: I didn't manage to do any writing yesterday either because of moving stuff and other things. And today might already be a bust, too. *sniffles* But I'm so close now I can't just give up. I haz a story to prep for subs and another story to read through prior to NaNo, and other stuff still, but I did most of the things and I is proud of that!

Furthmore, you're all supe's mega capable and strong writerly dudes/dudettes and I believe in each of you! :D We can do the things!!!

[X] Participate in the 3-Day Novel Contest.
[ ] Finish formatting the eBook I've been stalling on.
[X] Get a mailing list set-up.
[ ] Figure out a title/theme for the reprint short story collection I'm pulling together.
[ ] Finish the change I want to make to one of my novellas (flipping some secondary characters around).
[ ] Do edits on the E shorty story, whenever they come in.

Constant Goals:
[ ] Changing sleep cycle; focus on night.
[ ] Clean my office.
[39] Write 1K words a day (for 52 weeks).
